rear rack for 06 14
05/17/12 9:31 PM

This is all I have found for the 14

Wondering if there is others out there....,

and probably this attached.

Would hang my Cortech Duffle on it and leave the soft bags off seat or halfway on rack and seat depending how it affects t.lights etc.

06 14 Tuskigi stainless pcIII w/custom map.
Penske shock. GP North forks

And a couple of other Kawi's

Get a Suzuki V-Strom 650 OEM rear rack from Ebay for about $50 and do a little fabrication.

Here is the result, and passengers will like the grab handles too:

zxrider - Cool idea - good job, looks good

I got the same rack off ebay and used your bracket ideas with great results.

The 2 stock mount holes you see on the rack just happen to be exactly the same width as the 2 unused threaded screw holes in the tailpiece casting right behind the latch so I decided to use those as it might be a bit stronger. At least that's what I was thinking.
After staring at the thing for about 12 hours, I cooked up some brackets using 1" X 3/16 mild steel flat stock and a similar post/grommet idea to go through the plastic cover. Pain in the ass drilling that cover, both holes just grabbed the bit just as it bore through - ended up hacking it a little, but the grommet should cover up the ragged edges.
Basically copied your front arm brackets and used sheet metal screws to fasten.

Just did a 650 mile weekend up in NH with about 35 lbs on there (plus passenger) with no problem - didn't even notice anything was on there.

Will take pictures later to post as I plan to PC the pieces.

GF wants a backrest because, according to her, when I accelerate hard she "feels like I'm going to fall off".

So got to thinking about that, and not wanting (or able) to drop $200-500+ on a new seat w/backrest right now, came up with this idea: headrest from some sort of a junk car, preferably leather, and oval similar to a Corbin. I've seen plenty of cars with that type, now I'm off to the junkyard to have a look.
