has anyone chopped out the back mudguard having got the ECU torque bolts out and NOT replaced the back light? I ask as having done it and not bothered fitting the tiny new plate light that came with the kit my front lights aint working which they did before I chopped off the 'guard. Is it something simple like me!!!

The lights are all tied together courtesy of a federal safety mandate. On your auto if your taillights go out so do your dash lights, a safety warning that your taillights have gone out. You will need to hook up a light of some kind in order for all to work properly.

RKTSLED....I connected the new tail light and hey presto the rest work so you were right. Looks like I have to have the light as ugly as it is. Greatfull thanks.

There is a connector on the Gen 1 tag light wire. I just hooked my after market tag light LED into the connector with some crimp on contacts and taped it up. The LED fits right in the back hole under the tail. Check out LED Tag Light Install in How Tos by me.

Rook has posted an excellent DIY, might give it a shot. You have to have some sort of tag light and there are a lot of ways to add one. Autozone has some small chromes bolts with LEDs embedded for a minimalist way to go depending on how you mount your tag.
