Which Frame Sliders
05/19/12 1:25 PM

I'm taking delivery of a 14r next Saturday. I'd like to get the frame sliders or whatever works/looks good ASAP. What should I buy?

I like the Muzzy's. Effective for tip overs, they use an ARP fastner, a billet spacer and a delron replacable puck. Easy install, about 10 min.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words

The types that replace motor mount bolts can (and have) broken both the motor mounts & engine blocks.

Go with LSL. I've tested them unfortunately. Didnt break my motor mounts and saved fairings. The Best...,period. Their is another outfit that does it similar to LSL but i forgot whom.

LSL does use the motor mount but they also use a second hole to disperse the shock in a fall.

Does Muzzy use the motor mounts on a 14R? Has anyone mounted the Muzzy's on a 14R? In the event of a fall, I think I'd rather replace plastic fairings than motor mounts & the engine block.

You might be thinking of GSG. I have those sliders installed on both of my bikes.

I do like, on the ZX, how the bracket ties the engine and frame together. The slider bolts to the bracket.

Parts are pricey and delivery time is long but the finished product and peace of mind are worth it to me.

LSL has chrome ends for their sliders.

JJPX explains and shows why I like the LSL style. The crash bar has its own bracket that takes the force of impact instead of transmitting it to the frame/engine.
Which is what hapened on my low speed HIGHside. The bike flipped over and hit directly on the slider (and handlebar) then slid about 15 feet.
Scraped the barend weight, level tipand barely the muffler.
The LSL bracket was twisted and pad gouged up, but thats it. If it had been the style that mounts directly to the engine mount it would have snapped the mount and tab on engine case like in the picture I posted.

Where can I buy these? I called Muzzy today and they no longer make frame sliders for the ZX-14r.

If it's LSL you want, I got mine from Motomummy. Gonna be about $180 wherever you buy unless you find a closeout deal.

The ZX-14 sliders won't fit on the R. No one is making them yet (Muzzy was but they quit - told me they were too expensive to produce. I'm hoping barrier bars or LSL sliders are available soon.

If you can find the Muzzy's they are excellent quality and use the motor mount bolts. The 14 sliders fit the 14R
Not the best picture but you can make them out

BTW most sliders are meant for a tip over, not laying it down at speed... BUT, if you lay it down gently there is a better chance your not going kill the mount/bolt/motor... Obviously

Your bike looks awesome. What did the Brock system do for your bike HP and weight wise? How does it sound? Is it crazy loud? Did you removed the flies?

I've got a separate thread under the ZX-14R specific page for the LSL sliders:

http://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/messages.cfm?threadid=B95765AF-D56B-84E2-13625F4E94E0B702#4

I'll be in touch with them again in a couple weeks, let you know what I find out...

I'd like to contact the GSG slider manufacturer, if anyone has their website / phone / contact info.

I cant find it with a Google. Only thing that comes up is the Twisted Throttle retailer.

Anyone know how to contact GSG?

Suedez- Sorry for the delay, have not checked this thread in a while. Thank you, bike bone stock with pipe was like 201 HP & 116TQ (After Map & ECU Flash 208/123 SAE). I lost 31 LBS going with the Brock's pipe, yes it is quite loud. Here is an updated pic, that one I posted was quite old... Pipe has some funky colors now
