Reflash
02/10/12 3:06 PM

Well...I decided to get er done.May as well....she's worth it!

Guhl Motors....gonna remove the top speed limiter....redo the ignition table and raise the rpm limiter.THIS should be a VERY GOOD riding season!!!!! Secondaries will be opening a LOT sooner...and it doesn't affect the KTRC functions at all.He said this will even 'smooth out' the bike even more.I don't know HOW that could be possible...but he knows what he's talking about.

Glad to hear you are going with Guhl.

Don Guhl has worked extensively with COG through Harmon (Tech Guru!) to develop very aggressive but safe A/F and ignition tables. I saw an instrumented run which had a gauge that read fly opening from 0 to 100% and had a bar graph for RPM and one for Gear beside it. It looks like it is as good as having flys removed, without having to neuter traction control.

I'll be riding my new C14 there later in the summer, after I drop ship a Muzzy C14 dual exhaust to Don. He will run about 5 dyno runs, and come up with a sick flash for me. I'm never even going to bother buying a piggy for it.

Just a question - sorry to hijack.

I have a '09 - and I'm in Oz land, not the US of A.
I'd be keen to see what affect removing the timing retard in the lower gears has.
It looks like ECUnleashed just change timing, flies, rev limit etc. Don't touch fuel (from other posts)
Does Guhl use your PCV map to tune the ECU for a reflash, or only work with the real bike?

It would be interesting to know how the map tables are setup in the ECU.
Obviously it has timing per gear (otherwise TRE wouldn't work) and subthrottle per gear.
I wonder if it has fuel per gear, and how many throttle positions, and RPM steps....

Just thinking how an ECU flash can be done based on real bike responses and not just "a bike like yours"

If a PCV map has to be translated to an ECU map how well do they align....

" I'm never even going to bother buying a piggy for it"...same here.I've got one...but I'm leaving it off for now.May never install it...she's got plenty of torque;)(my new one).Leaving secondaries in there also....she's very very smooth.

OZ14; this is the reply I got from ECUnleashed last year about re-flashing my '06.

" We work on each of the internal parameters of each ECU including, removing any factory restrictions (ignition and/or throttle), optimize fuel and ignition curves, deceleration maps, throttle maps, rev limit, and many more. This allows us to maximize horsepower while also significantly improving the ride-ability and control of the bike. Plus we are able to accommodate for modifications that have been done to the bike (ie exhaust system, intake, etc). "

You made a good choice. Don Guhl does good work.

I will be riding over this summer since he is so close to me, and get my C14 done. Same stuff pretty much, just tailored for the C14.
