barrowed from myself:
I increased my retard from about 4.5 to 6. I took Hubs idea of taping up the throttle, and then with the Bazzaz, since it reads the TP in software on the PC real time, I had the ignition on - engine off, and marked the throttle positions, pretty easy really. What I found out, when riding, was that from 3.5 to 4.5 K, about 65 to 90 MPH, the throttle reached no higher than about 8 percent. I set the Bazzaz to adjust to 13.7 from 0 to 9 percent, then used those A/F mixes for that RPM range.
I took a ride to the high desert, about 50 miles up and the gauge cluster said I was getting about 38-41 MPG real time, doing about 80-85 ish. On the way back I was doing night time, 90-110 miles speed and the mileage dropped some. Total was about 27 MPG. But I did note that before I did the cruise tune I was averaging about 100 miles per tank, city and highway. Nice difference. About back to OEM. I'll see what it is if I can slooo myself down to say 70... that's pretty hard to do.
Since the map moves out of the lean/cruise setting about immediately, and is sort of a 'no load' on the engine when I cruise, I was thinking of adjusting the A/F for cruise to say 14 ish. I noticed going up the pass that the PSI slowly began to drop and near the top of the pass, and in the high desert, normal was no longer 0, it was -2, and under full boost max was +5. Lighter atmosphere. That should just make the mix more rich, which outta be just fine, I'd think.
I wonder about going up hill though, long grades, where the engine is under more load, throttle still not at 10 percent or higher... and having a 14 ish A/F.
hum...
You'd think there'd be a gadget that could tie into the ignition, you set it to detect 'ping', and it retards the system and backs off 'ping', say 'X' degrees?
