ZX14 matching hard bags
02/10/12 8:39 PM

Hey guys I saw this pic of one of the members bikes that had a matching set of hard bags attached. Can anyone tell me if these are OEM or aftermarket. I would be interested in a set like this since it is the only set I have found that looks like they were meant to be there. Here is the pic.

Thanks
Blake

Yes, and they are obscenely expensive.

But they look nice!

Ya I found them on the Corbin Website. They are rediculously priced but is there any other option that looks so much like they are part of the bike. Does Kawasaki offer anything?

Nope. Don't know if anyone has ever tried adapting C-14 bags to the ZX.

Blake
I have the same ZX-14 as you do.
Last year I installed a set of the Givi V35 bags with the SW-Motech rack.
Send me an email to rlambke19@gmail.com and I will send you some pics.
They hold more than the Beetle Bags, are 1/2 the price and come off nice and easy, whereas the Beetle Bags do not.
Personally, I don't mind the look of the Givi bags.
Cheers,
Rob

The mark up on these bags from Corbin is exorbitant.

If you really want them find a Corbin dealer who will work with you. Mine offered them to me fifty over cost, saved a bunch.

I'm sorry, I gave my word I wouldn't share the cost, he's a friend and owed me a few favors.

Blakezx14 and robertv19,

Here's a pic of my bike with the Givi V35's that I had custom painted to match my bike with the SW-Motech brackets.

Hey guys thanks for all your input. Its tough to decide what to do. The Givi's do look good but still like the Corbin's look better. I just have to figure out if I want to drop the bomb to get them. If anyone had an inside scoop on the Corbin's I would be interested in a set.
Hey SPORTSMAN, Do you think you friend would like to make another sale.

Givi makes a backrest pad you can attach to that topcase.

I have had the whole Givi set up for a while now on my 06. Huge top case and two side cases..work great and look great ..Personally think they look better than the options ..but then I got rid of the fins on my bike's side panels as you can see in my picture. Too Testerossa circa 1985 for me.

I too have the Givi V35 side cases. I love them. They are roomy enough for a 2 week road trip. I bought the SW Motech brackets for them instead of the Givi brackets because the SW Motech bracket come off in 2 min (they use quarter push turn hardware, 4 points per side), and only a few tabs remaining. I like riding without luggage when possible and I didn't want brackets hanging on the side of ZX-14 when out for a burn.

I serious looked at the Corbin cases. I loved the gill pattern they worked in to match the side fairing. I even got my head around the ridiculous high price. Then I read a post that put them in perspective for me. They are bolted onto the bike and do not remove quickly. They are much smaller in terms of storage than the Givi. They also were made to work with the hideously ugly stock exhaust of the ZX-14 and have their bottoms cupped to allow clearance. This dramatically reduces storage capacity. If you switch to an aftermarket exhaust that does not rise up so high they look odd and you will regret not make better use of the space (especially since the space is lower to the ground where you would rather have the weight).

Here is my second draft of home-made brackets to accommodate the Corbin backrest and SW-Motech mounting with Givi cases. I would like slightly smaller u-shaped brackets (e.g., "column cap"), but I haven't found anything better than what I used. I would like to lower the topcase about 1 inch from where I have it now. It presently opens and clears the backrest, but it has about 1.25 inches extra clearance.

Blue color panels for the 2009 Versys Givi side cases are the same blue used on the 07 14. Candy Plasma Blue.

The Corbin bags look nice, but I like the detachability of the V35's with the Motech brackets.

This pic was taken before I painted the removable panels, and swapped screens and seats

Installed the Motech racks and Givis a couple of weeks ago...love 'em.

I got the Givis used off eBay, with the LED kit already installed.

I considered getting the lighting kit, but I rarely ride after dark. Looks good, though. anything that makes you more visible is a plus in my book.

"...anything that makes you more visible is a plus in my book."

Definitely...in addition to the HyperLites brake flashers, I added black 3M reflective tape (invisible until a light source hits it) on the rear of the bags...

I also put some on the sides and forks...

Hi there,
I just joined this forum and I really like what some of you have done with your bike, namely those with 2012 models. I recently bought a 2012 ZX14R and I have been having troubles finding accessories for it. Precisely I want the Sw-motech brackets and start working on the bags, but all I can find is for , up too 2011 models. So please help, I would very much like to set my bike up with some travel bags.

Kurt~

KurtG68o -- Give a telephone call to Twisted Throttle. Remember that they cannot say that the racks work with a 2012, because it requires lowering the pipes. Just find out if they have the parts, or can get the parts. I have a complete inventory of the parts needed at the following link: Thread regarding installing SW Motech Rack with Givi bags
