Well, I took my bike into my mechanic to get my 16T sprocket put on. He already owed me the labour but I hung out there all day and stripped down a '97 F650 for him anyway - sheesh those are some bastard carbs to pull.
Time came to put my bike up on the stand, strapped it down front and back, and I warned him that several people have had severe troubles getting the nut off. Well, after an hour of throwing everything we had at it we had simply smeared the nut round and never budged it one bit. This included a 3/4" impact as well as breaker bars with eight foot pipes and a lot of heat. The thing never moved one micron.
Laugh all you want, but beware. Mine will now need to be cut off and that won't be pretty. It's a 2008 and I don't know what the hell they did to put that on there (I didn't really smell the classic red loctite smell when we heated the nut up) but it is way beyond ridiculous to say the very least.
Now I need to order another nut, and we will have to dremel zipcut what we can and chisel the rest of the nut off when we get the chance. WTF?!
