Good: Triboseat cover
06/08/11 5:34 AM

Ok I've had this on the bike now for over a month and have gotten several 2 up rides in. I love it . the wife is no longer slamming into me when braking, she says she feels more secure and doesn't feel like she is sliding off the seat during hard acceleration. installation was easy and fit and looks are exceptional. heres a few pics oh and great buy for $20

You just wanted to show off yer baby!I got it.(the cover does look good as well!)Your bike is WAY sweet Scott.Very nice Bro!

IS that a stock seat?It looks a bit "thicker" than the factory deal.I swear...it looks like a "re-covered" and shaped Connie seat to me.

I wonder IF it's possible....COULD the designers have actually listened to the American 14 owners here...and fashioned a seat that actually.....works?She looks thicker to me.How does it feel?I'd actually LIKE to get an OEM seat...but I'm NOT gonna go backwards and buy one that feels like my first seat.No way. That thing...geez...one hour...tops.My arse hurt so bad....even getting off every 20 miles didn't help after she started hurtin!THAT was a MISERABLE riding experience.

Just on a slight topic change...didn't you get one of those magnetic drain plugs?I did, last year sometime. My report....changed my oil yesterday.Forgot I had switched to that plug.Anyway,I remembered and checked the thing out...if there was any junk on there. You know, that plug has some serious magnetic strength to it.All that was on the tip there was some grayish black "sludge" type stuff.Nothing serious. No chips. It definitely was grabbin the metallic goo in there.I'm happy with it.Really worthwhile addition.Been rollin a lot harder this new season so far,so I kinda thought there might be some..."unknown"'s as far as particles and such.Nope...oil was perfect looking.Clear as could be for it's time in there.Gotta say...the Motul 7100 10/40 full syn...it's some EXCELLENT oil.Very good performing. My gearbox/trans is shifting a lot better. It was doing good before...but this year..it seems to be smoothing out some more.

Scott, if you get an opportunity, buy a connie seat. I wavered for a bit with the choices for a replacement, but for the comfort at the price you can do real good with the connie. My wife absolutely loves riding on the back wheras before she was always sliding into me like you described. The C14 seat is very sticky, I even armour-alled it before our trip last weekend at her protest but she still didn't slip!

well, IMO the connie doesn't need the backrest so bad because of the lip on the back supports the rider, but gotta make wifey hsppy

About a month after I bought my 14 I saw the triboseat advertised on ebay and thought I'd give it a try cause my wife was slipping about all over the place. It made an instant difference. Then I combined the triboseat with a backrest that I fabricated myself using a headrest from a Toyota van, my wife loved this and it instantly made her a better pillion. Now I've got the Corbin seat and bought another triboseat to use on it. My wife thinks this great. You know what they say "a happy wife is a happy husband"

I've always heard those things are terrific. A must for carrying a passenger.

Great idea for the back rest!

Just got my Triboseat Passenger seat cover in the mail from the UK. Cost me under $30 with shipping.

The packaging said it was for the ZX-10 and you can see the 10 marked in the upper right.

No worries. Fits the 14 perfectly. Looks really nice. Feels like a pASSenger would stick to that just fine. Will do the actual test with the live passenger soon.

Secured with an elastic string tog.

I did some research online before ordering and it seems that this exact material can be purchased at Home Depot for about $12 and you get a 30" x 24" roll of the stuff. It is called toolbox liner or router padding. IDK by which simple means you would secure it underneath the seat. I decided that was too much of a hassle to go through so I just bought the real thing with the nice seamed tog around the edges. It's cheap. If it lasts, well worth the few $$ more than making a DIY sticky seat. I will say that the online review of the Triboseat mentioned that the rubber coating wore quickly with a 110 pound passenger on it. It was some time ago that the review was put up. Don't know if the material was updated. Also don't know if the ware causes the product to perform less than optimally or if the change is simply cometic. The Triboseat covers are cheap enough that you could buy 5-6 and I believe shipping is the same as 1.

Might be worth considering creating such a sticky cover that is fit to the ZX-14's seat shape. Triboseat makes a pilot seat cover but it does not cover the whole seat and has elastic bands that stretch under ....it just does not look as precisely fitted as the pillion seat cover IMHO. I would love to have my whole seat covered with this stuff.

If you are picky about weight, 2.45 ounces....most girls are gonna tip the scale a bit more though.
