Juicebox or PC?
09/16/11 8:15 AM

I've done a bit of research on both the Juicebox and the PowerCommander. I'm stuck with the PC3 if I go that route due to me being on an '06, but the Juicebox doesn't seem to have any year limitations. I've got a pair of Muzzy CF slip-ons, and am planning on removing my flies. I'm just wondering which one you guys think is a better for the 14.

I have an PCV for my 06. If you aren't planning to play with the data go PC3 which is cheaper unless you get a cheaper deal for a V, which is what I did!!!!

Gotcha. I may be playing with the data a bit, depending on how I like the "Muzzy Slip-on, No Flies" map. Nobody has messed with a juicebox? I know the store recommends them cause they "do the same for cheaper", but i'd rather hear from someone who has one on a 14.

I know you can drop power commander maps directly into a juicebox. There's an import PC Maps command. So maps aren't an issue. I'm just not sure how much you are able to tune, and how reliable the product is compared to a PCV.

http://www.twobros.com/Perf_Products/Juice_Box_Pro/JuiceBox-Pro.htm

Let us narrow it down.

1. Price; Forget it. Do not bring the tune into the equation.
2. PC; 2 maps only = Neg.
3. Pro; 10 maps = Pos.
4. PC; Drag the unit to your computer with the battery tied or not you lose data sorta = Neg.
5. Pro; No need for a computer/laptop to keep tuning one map after the other = Pos.
6. PC; The laptop is to paint by number the X to Y on the grid = Pos.
7. Pro; Has the PC covered there or match for match is to make a map from scratch, meaning = Pos.
8. PC; Has no options to tune from its stand alone box = Neg.
9. Pro; Has the pot as the optional way and notice the TFI or Mr. Dobeck of PC fame, made that unit and sold out years ago to that Name. Is that trend heading toward what Mr. Dobeck is into now or saw the tune was the pot signal, hello? Can't get away from that pot dial on the FI signals, can we? Well, not yet; until something evolves and obsoletes FI like it did a set of points and carb.
10. PC; May be on the way out or has to plug and play the pot way as this is more the layering of the pot settings, meaning, not having that one option, but the PC5 has more plug-ins. The Pro is a one hit wonder, meaning, you give the nod to the AFR option, the shift and the boost signals are the PC's advantage if we run race = Pos.
11. Pro; Being that stand alone unit, it is more a tuning tool and do we posi/neg a stand alone, just out, new sort of? You decide.
12. PC; The 2 map option is not a triple a motel you want race and economy out of 2 maps? = Neg.
13. Pro; With 10 maps, you race/turbo/open air cleaner/open meg/lean her out economy 16:1/smoother out all the way coast to coast? = Pos.
14. PC; Tune on the fly with the AFR attached? = Neg.
15. Pro; Do we have two stand alone tuning tools at the front of the bike? Can we not hide the Pro in the seat (see video), but place it near the AFR meter we be dialing in 10 maps on the fly? I'm sure I'm missing more posi and negs but that Pro is some fuel layering or minus the choke on the iridiums sure looks good to my ass, having an opinion.
16. She wheat shit coming down the pike. Always a Pos.

Great stuff Hub . Thanks for the rundown. As far as a race tuner, i'm thinking the juicebox is a pretty good option with the multiple maps, and not needing a computer to switch them.

I really like the TB Pro controller with all these positive reviews about it. My question is, will it make a difference i put on different pipes? I have some two brothers on there now but i really like the sound and look of the Voodoo pipes. I dont want to waste the money in buying the Pro and it does great with the partnered two brothers pipes but when i change the pipes it goes to hell.

The Juicebox is able to run on PC maps, so as long as PC has a voodoo map you shouldn't run into any problems.

Watch how difficult modding is.

Yes, there will be some change. Where in the torque scale, I don't know? Did one pipe make more/lose more than the other pipe? Someone is going to make less HP between two pipes. Someone is going to spend Buck$ after bucks; chasing tiny bits of HP gain.

Tuning is variable changing. Once you change something, 3 to 5 combinations kick in, you have to massage those away. Someone cries for a different map; see those combinations creep up? Yes, you will waste money trying one thing after the other. The crap shoot is... Is it worth it, you never race it, but street it and no bike can touch you running this thing stock.

I dont have anything in there right now.. i almost bought the Juicebox last month but i'm not trying to buy a Juice box then turn around and have to buy a PC because the voodoo pipes wont work will with the Juice box. I still have to look into the pipes but i dont think there is much of a "performance" factor to those pipes. They are strictly for looks and sound, i've heard another 14 and a couple of Busa's with them on there and they give me a warm and fuzzy when they ride by.

It looks very simple. It's just supposed to plug inline with your wiring harness connector.
