replacement connectors
04/20/11 11:39 AM

So I took my front turn signals apart and filled them full of LEDs. Well whilst hacking I screwed up the connector. I could not get the metal pin out of the plastic housing and I spent countless hours trying, truth! Now the wire is pulled out and the pin still in the housing never to work again. So can I buy replacement parts for just the housing and pins? Like a connector kit. I wouldn't even know where to look. I want it to plug right into the factory harness on the bike like it should but I can always hack the connector off one of the old clear signals I have on my shelf. I just want it to look good.

any help would be great.

Go to Amazon.com and search "electrical connector" and be patient you'll find one.

Well it looks like Speedo DRD has some similar ones on their site for about $6 but they're listed for a KLR250 so I need to make sure first. I usually check Amazon too, eventually.

Edge are you talking about the white interconnect plug?If so go into an electrical store and ask for a pin pusher, they are tiny tubes that slide over the plug pin so that you can remove them.theres about 3 different sizes. You should be able to get all 3 for less then 5 bucks.Any electronic junk store or even Radio shack/the Source should have them plus the pins to repair the connector

hey thanks for the tip darryle. I wasn't aware they had a tool like that. I've always used these thin T-pins my wife insists on buying so she can hang pictures with them instead of bothering me to put a nail in the wall. I just could not find the little tab on the pin for the life of me. I've done plenty of other types of connectors but that male front signal connector got me. It came on the aftermarket smoked sigs I bought so maybe it's a quality problem on their end.??? But I will check radio shack next time I drag myself in that god-forsaken store. lol

Edgecrusher; Here's the link to ratshack. Use the "find it in store" button to see who has one locally. If they have the tool, they should have the pins. Most mall stores don't carry the small stuff anymore.

Well turns out the connector on the aftermarket signals doesn't match the original at all. they aren't even the male side. So I'm just gonna hack the originals onto the news.
