Yes, we all get cut off but yesterday I was cut off and I went over the bars. Here is what happened with pics.
I was on my to work at 6AM. I work on an Air Force base so I was approaching the ID check point. There is a series of "S" turns as you come to the gate. I was slowing down and I was in the far right hand lane, there is 3 lanes as you come to the gate. There was a silver PT Cruiser that passed me earlier, at about 75 mph, I was doing 65 mph. So, I was in the 3rd lane doing about 10 mph. The PT was in the middle lane going a bit faster than me, still. As we got to within 100 feet of the gate, the PT decided that he wanted in my lane, at this time I was at the rear door of the PT. I was in the left side of my lane and noticed that he was moving into my lane. I grabbed the clutch and both brakes. I pushed hard on the right bar and dove to the right and the rear tire locked and I started to skid. I released the rear brake to pump it and the rear tire grabbed. The bike went left and I went over the bars to the right. The PT went back into his lane and almost hit a solid concrete lane divider about 9 inchs high. As I hit the ground, I landed on my right shoulder, rolled over and saw the 14 skid to a stop on it's right side faceing me. I jumped up and there was 3 Military Police running over to me. They asked what happened and I told them that the PT cut me off. They grabbed there radios and stared to tell the other MP's to stop the PT. The MP's stop the dude in the PT. Of course he told me and the MP's that he didn't see me. I said to him, "Did you see me when you passed me doing 75?" He said yes, but that was awhile ago. It was like, less than 2 miles from the gate when he passed me. The MP's saw that I was getting pissed at him and escorted him about 50 feet away.
So, I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I broke my right collar bone. No raspberries, raod rash, cut or scrapes. I was wearing full gear, 100% PPE! The bike seems to be okay and ride-able. I'll have check it out later.
Here are a few pics of the bike and my collar bone X-Ray.
