Do you guys that use Autotune take the time to hook a laptop up every so often and apply the results ?I spent about an hour on the phone with Mr. Brock when I was deciding to get a piggy, as I thought the PC5 would be better. He pointed out that, for one thing, the resonance in the headers and pipes is going to give the relatively low cost O2 sensors a fit, and cause false readings.
And he told me I'd enjoy whichever piggy I got more if I didn't bother with Autotune.
I'm just a set-it-and-forget it guy, but am curious how you use your Autotune ability.
The longer you wait, the better the suggested trims. When I first put an autotune on my '06, I carried a small netbook with me and would accept the trims often. It was a waste of time. The suggested trims were all over the place, resulting in the bike running worse. I assume this was from inaccurate samples. If I waited, say 1k miles or more, before accepting the trims then I felt they did improve the fuel mapping.
Now on my '06, I had an Alien Head exhaust. I was told, by someone in the know, that a good rule of thumb when installing an o2 sensor is to place it, at minimum, a distance of twice the pipe diameter from any seams in the exhaust. The short collector and mid pipes on the AH made this impossible. I've got a CT single for my '08 14. The pre-welded bung on the midpipe is placed in a much better location. Hopefully the readings will be more accurate. I'm tempted to call DJ and ask if one of the guages for the Wideband 2 will work with the autotune... It would be nice to be able to keep an eye on the AFR, but I don't want to purchase a LCD... and riding with a computer hooked up is downright dangerous.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” HST
