Touring Bags.
03/31/15 9:08 PM

I wanted to pick up a nice saddle bags/ panniers for the 14R... But due to the stock exhaust constraint, panniers are ruled out.. I am thinking of picking the Kreiga US drypack 40L combo set..

Has anyone tried the same on 14R?? How easy is the installation??

Does it hold itself well when the bike is ridden at 200km/h for hours?

Your suggestions are welcome.

Just make a 1.5"-2" strap for each muffler and that gives you the clearance for Givi luggage. You have to remove a bolt under the Bike that holds the mid-pipe.
I got my mountings from twisted Throttle for ZX14 06-11. Givi is changing their luggage, but I like the V35. I ordered the bags from Motorcycle-superstore and Givi threw in a 3rd key set, which I used for my trunk and everything has one key.
If you are handy with tools check my previous post on installing a Strom 650 luggage rack for the top trunk. Cost me $50.

DoubelD Those givi bags looks sweet on your 14R :)

The installation looks pretty simple and straightforward after your instructions.

Thx for posting the pics.

Trailboss how much you paid for those panniers?

I have a 2012 ZX14R. With Two Brothers Carbon Fiber slipons.
I too had to add a very small extension on the bracket to the footpeg mount.
Basically from the existing hole down to where you can get a nut one the bolt . Maybe 1 - 1/2 inches.

This moved the pipes down ot the rear giving a couple inches between pipe and V35 Givi bag.

The SW Motech makes them a snap to add or remove.

I scored these Aprillia bags for $40 and fabricated mounts. They almost look like they were ment to be there. I am currently fabricating new mounts for the same bags so I can put them on my '13. Because the new bike has Brocks slip ons I can mount them lower which will be even better.

They look very smart but is the riding position a little cramped as they seem quite a way forward?

Transferred the bags from my '13 to my '16 SE with no problems. The dual CT Brock's pipes are a bit short, so I just added adhesive heat shielding to the underside in case things get too toasty on a long run.

Sorry Kirk, but those bags make your ass look fat. Might need to add some shielding for when they start dragging in the corners.

Looks good, from the side! Just kidding, adds a lot of room for trip.

By the way, I am looking for plain Black heel guards - are yours Flat Black and I assume they came that way? I don't want Carbon Fiber and I painted mine but it is not lasting.

Ride safe, but fast.

The best thing about hard bags is the weather protection. If it never rained, I'd be perfectly happy with soft luggage. I hate the elastic "shower cap" covers because they usually shred or come off. The V35s and their mounts are a little heavy, but they pop off in seconds. Every time I unload, I can almost hear the bike say, "Aaaaahhhhhhhh"
