Map loaded in PC5???
07/31/11 4:50 AM

Gentlemen-

I need some help. I finished my exhaust upgrade yesterday to my full Two Brothers system. I got my new PC5 from the box, installed the hardware, and selected the correct map (M17-012-008). I believe I did everything correctly, but find it odd that I can't verify what MAP is installed on the PCV. When I "Send Map" from the computer to the device, it says that it went, and there are no errors, but it is instant, and without any confirmation.
I started the bike. The throttle response is quick, and it revs what I would call decent, but not clean. I am hoping to get a chance to ride today and really find out. Before I pinned everything back together I thought I would run the question past some of you.

Does anyone know if there is a way to verify the map is actually in the device???

Many thanks-

Someone who has a PC5 will eventually see your post.

I know with the PC3, when you run the bike while your laptop is attached to the piggy, and run the DynoJet software, you can see what map is loaded. It shows the A/F cell values, and at the bottom, shows the text part of the map, which is usually who made it, for what, etc.

LOL. Apparently I was over thinking this!

Still haven't had a chance to ride it, but did "double check" and feel pretty confident I am set. It will go to the Dyno for tuning soon enough, so if I do have any issues with the Dynojet tune it won't be for long.

Thanks guys.

I didn't see anything about setting the TPS. Did I miss something?

I just rode it for the first time. What a HUGE disappointment. All I have accomplished so far is to make the bike loud as hell, and run like absolute junk.

I ran the map that was supposed to be for the Two Bros full system. Anyone happen to have this set up? The bike stock would have torn this to shreds.

Very important to calibrate the TPS for the map to work correctly.

Here's a thread:

Thread: Calibration of Power Commander TPS

That is likely the reason your bike is now running like crap... But also, those maps you can download from the DJ website are usually shit... Here are a couple good full system maps you can download:

MAPS

The first one is for '08-current, the second is for '06-07's.

My buddy has two bros on his 636 and it's loud. As far as dj maps I heard most of them suck. For sure the 1 I had for my muzzys slip ons was lame. The first trip I took after pc v install was ok but the next day the bike would act like it's stalling or something and my battery wasn't getting recharged properly while riding (bad ground). I gave up and brought my bike to a tuner and never looked back (literally lol). He didn't give me detail but told me my PCV wasn't properly installed! The installation is basic... you've got ground, male and female plugs on the PCV and male and female on your bike so I'm thinking the problem came from the TPS. Check the TPS thread too. DogoZX posted links for free maps in D-Jeffo-Ivan-Brock map quest page 5. I think they are for flies out but you may wanna check them out. I read the TPS thread a few days ago and I still dunno if I need to do that with my brocks maps but it's good info check it out and ask around.

Ivan's instructions for brocks maps? I'm not sure yet but will either do Brocks Street and Brocks track or Brocks street and your EDR Muzzy M10. How to set the TPS if I load two maps and use a map switch?

Ivan's instructions for brocks maps?

Brock said to just follow the instructions on the DJ site... Ivan's instructions are better... They will get that shit dialed... which is important... Think about it, if the TPS is even 2% off, you won't be getting the proper fuel trims @ the correct throttle %'s.

How to set the TPS if I load two maps and use a map switch?

Hmmm... never thought about that. I guess you just wouldn't worry about it.
I recalibrate when I change maps... but I do it w/ a laptop. Don't see the need for a mapswitch unless a guy is using NOS.

Oh... that EDR map isn't a good one for your bike... The '06-'07's have bigger injectors than '08+'s. That Muzzy map is almost identicle to one of the maps Brock already sent you.

Dogo-

Thank you brother. I just loaded the EDR Map you sent. I still have flies in, so I am hoping it will be alright. I also warmed the bike up and set the TPS (Hopefully correctly). Now it's off to work. The two maps are VERY different, so this will be good to see.

I really appreciate it, and I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again-

Yeah that's the 1 I have downloaded. I thought it was from edr as well. I'm gna calibrate for brocks and hope it's good enough for the muzzy map. My initial thought was to put a genuine track and a street map with better gas mileage. This way if I wanna go to the track or push the limits I'm just a "switch" away. It's great especially if you are riding your bike to a track which is a cple of hrs away. No need to bring the laptop! I just asked brocks for an all out track map but because the motor is mainly stock with the exception of flies out. I'm not sure what he's gna send me. I may just put the muzzy and brocks maps just to compare them. After while I'll calibrate for the muzzys and check them again. Gna be fun.

red14 since u have an 08 or later u should be good with flies in. I think I still would have taken the flies out for a tiny bit more tq. Why leaving them in if she doen't need it! Maybe next time u get her naked again.

Guys-

Took her to the Dyno and tuned it there from the EDR Map. Not real happy with the 179.2 HP, but to be fair it is extremely hot and muggy here in Ohio right now. Overall....I kind of wish I'd have left it stock. The heat was the initial issue, and though the new pipe is cooler for the passenger...still the same for me.
So...I'm out a grand, the bike is so loud I just ordered a P1X to try and silence it, and the gains were nominal at best. Still trying to regroup and figure out what to do. But...I will keep on it until it is right. Debating the secondaries, and a new air filter. If at first you don't succeed....

Thanks again guys-

i just brought mine back with the new exhaust (ct duals) and love the sound. I'm not sure but 179 hp with 2 brothers is not bad! the gain with the high flow filter and flies out on a 08 or later will be minimal. I think that guys go with k&n and the like mostly cause they are reusable. As for the sound... mine seems to be less intrusive than my muzzy slip ons but that may change at higher rpms though but good thing is my neighbors won't hate me more. Again, I think 2 brothers got some of the loudest exhausts out there and if you want the max hp you have to go akraprovic evolution or brocks ct.

oh and try engine ice and/or secondary fan. Privateer said that Amsoil 10w40 made his run cooler as well. so Wait till about 4000 miles (I think) and you can go that route. I'm puting Amsoil tonight I'll keep you posted.

King-

Thanks again. I actually need to retract some of my negativity from the other day. I road for 3 hours today, and I think I can learn to live with it @ 179! Still needs a little touch up here and there, but overall it made for a nice run. Pops occasionally on decel as most do, but after a while I was digging the new power curve. Hopefully the tip will come in and clean up the exhaust note just a hair. If I had to describe it, the 2 Bros sounds more like a meg than a canister. Not horrible, just less crisp.
I plan on swapping to engine ice, today was considerably cooler than the day we dyno'd it. It ran very well on the interstate. I think I will be able to get in the 180's pretty easy when we get out of this crazy heat wave.
My tuner swears I need to pull the flies. I stand by what I've learned on here about the 08 and up not gaining from it, but I will probably cave next time it's apart. LOL

Keep me posted on the Amsoil and what you think.

Take care and talk to you soon-

I agree with you on the full exhaust thing. by my right leg it doesn't feel like it's a lot cooler! I did switch to Amsoil yesterday but I haven't been able to ride for a long time today. I took a 20 min trip mostly stayed between 3500 and 4000 rpm and played around 6000 a couple of times. I was 2 bars under max temp the whole time. Then got home and found out the mechanic didn't put enough engine ice!!! I topped it off. I will ride extensively tomorrow.

P.S. I'm glad your new system and performances are growing on you!

I rode for 2 hours today city traffic plus highway. 85 degrees weather. I pushed her around 9000 rpm in 1st and 2nd, did lots of aggressive downshifting, she stayed at 2 bars from max the whole time!!!! so, so far so good. Didn't feel much heat by my right leg it may be because there was a good cool breeze today. What gotten my attention is that the engine temp doesn't fluctuate like it used to. Even when I stop in traffic! I will have more info when I move to TX at the end of the month (100+ degrees days). I'll probably create a new thread or find a related 1.

P.S. the gear switching is ultra smooth with amsoil!!!!

Hi I am new to the forum so far I have just been reading and trying to learn as much as I can. I just got the my blue 06 about a month ago it has the PCIII a full muzzy exhaust as well as being stretched and lowered with a GPR stabilizer . I live here in Austin TX where it has been 105ish every day for the last 2 months. With that said my temp gage has been 1 bar under max everywhere I go in the day time and one time in gridlock traffic the warning came on. So I am interested in looking up things to keep the temp down. As well I plan on removing the flies tonight or tomorrow I was going to use the DJ map for full muzzy and flies out reading what yall were talking about I figured I would ask for yalls thoughts about the DJ map and cooling the bike I will look in to engine ice and see what that is all about

Most importantly I wanted to take the time say welcome to Texas King . Not sure if you have been here before but it is good to see that there will be some people on the forum form around here

Most importantly I wanted to take the time say welcome to Texas King

to the forum buddy lots of good info here

I have been to Austin twice already and love it. The last time I was there the wify showed me some pretty good twisties so I'm exited! I just need to find out the spots LE is not preying at!
Engine ice definitely helps we haven't had any 90 plus day this week in NE but when I go to work in the morning I can tell she runs cooler and no matter how hard I push her she doesn't go pass 2 bars from max.
Amsoil 10w40 probably contribute to that as well. I know lots of people suggest at least 4000 miles before you switch. Given the mods and the year of your bike I'm sure you re over 4000! What I am not sure about is the amount of mileage one has to have before a switch to full synthetic becomes problematic. IMO if you don't leak you should be good to go!
I'm definitely going to install a 2nd fan when I get to Austin. Being stock in traffic on 100+ day is not fun!
I'll be there on the 23rd I'll make sure to pm you to see if you wanna go ride sometime.

well i will always be up for a cruse. Thanks for the map i hooked up the laptop to the PC and found out that right now it has the DJ muzzy full +stock filter map on it . I am looking forward to seeing how it runs with the flies out and the new map. At the moment the bike has 8100 miles on it. The guy took good care of the bike and just did a oil change before he had to sale it but when I do it I will definitely go with the synthetic as well as the engine ice. There is only question I have that I can’t seem to find a direct answer to… is it worth getting a k&n filter for the bike? If it is worth it then I figure I might as well do it whall I am down there removing the flies .

if you don’t mind me asking why are you deciding to Austin I am not sure what type of things your in to but Austin dos at least have a lot to offer twisty roads are fun and a few good straits to open the bike up on as well as the live music seen and a lot of outdoor activities … I am sure you will find something fun

Lots of people are wondering!!! I have heard from several trusted sources that the gain from a high flow filter were minimal at best. That being said, I don't trust dynos. I think the ram air effect our bikes have is hard to mimic so it is really hard to find out whether a high flow filter helps or not. I changed mine last month at about 10000 miles and it was real dirty. I bought a stock 1 for 30 bucks at a dealership, I think k&n are around 70 bucks but they are reusable so you'll save in the long run. You also have to buy some kinda oil spray to apply after you wash it. I'll try a k&n in about 8000 miles.
why are you deciding to Austin I am not sure what type of things your in to but Austin dos at least have a lot to offer twisty roads are fun and a few good straits to open the bike up on as well as the live music seen and a lot of outdoor activities … I am sure you will find something fun

Yep. Kayaking, live music, the food etc. I am going to go to paramedical school and apply for the firefighter academy. I'd love to be a pilot as well but with my sense of direction lool... I went 2 years ago to visit and fell in love with that place. The summer heat is the only thing I'm not looking forward to but have had enough winters in NE.
