Hay Redtrace,
Those headders look so cool (no pun intended.) Whad brand are they? I don't see the catalytic converter. How did you get the ceramic coating done? Is there info regarding heat reduction comparisons between that and the Wraps?
The ZX6 fan is a great idea. No reason it has to be another ZX14 fan. That's thinking outside the box.
You should be enjoying it in the hotter weather now. I've just confined myself to morning riding. We've been in the 90's here in the foothills. Typical summer.

Young, I had a friend of mine carefully weld on some brackets. It's really the only way you can do it.

Sharky, That is the stock header. There is no cat because mine is an '06 and they didn't have them. I pulled the stock header in the winter of '07 and sent it out for the coating. I sent it to performance coatings and the cost was like $150.00. There has been some talk about wrapping your headers and keeping them dry. If you don't, they rot away and you don't know it until it is too late. I went with the coating because I think it looks better and has the heat reduction benefit.

I, too, thought about putting an extra fan on this summer. Instead, I went with ZX10 front fender. The bike runs 1-2 bars cooler. If I am sitting in traffic it still goes to just below max, but once I'm moving it drops right back down.

I'm suprised that a fender can make such a difference. I did take the "spats" off my front fender. It makes a little difference but is not too attractive. I'm working on a way to dress up the empty holes a little.

Sharkey, I was surprised, too. I thought I would still need the 2nd fan, but I don't. I live in central FL so it's very hot this time of year. The bike definitely runs significantly cooler.

"I found this extra cooling fan for ZX14:

I don't know if anyone has ever heard about it.

Marco"

I have installed this fan and will see how it performs, pretty simple install took about 3 hours.

BadinBlack? bOOfa? Any updates? I'm thinking of getting the same kit.

I was looking at the aluminum Muzzy replacement blade, but when I can can get an entire second fan for $5 more.....

No difference in the amount of heat cooking your legs? Did any of your mods help that?

Thanks for the feedback BOOfa, instead of wiring my kit up to the existing fan, I think I'm going to wire it in seperately with a switch so I can turn it on and off manually

1mile14 here. Shortly after getting another zx14 fan, my timing chain snapped and the bike was in the shop getting rebuilt, then they found the frame was cracked, They had the bike for 9 months, and at one time they had the bike longer than I had it in my garage.

I still have the fan in the garage, havnt installed it because the bike doesnt really need it. But it will most likely make it on when I pull the stock header to wrap it this winter.

By the way, I just got a quote from Jet-Hot Ceramics to do an exhaust system (4-2-1 header, pipe, not cannister) of $257 for the 1,700 degree X Sterling ceramic. That is inside and outside of course.

Not bad.

I worked on my secondary fan this weekend. It is one of those from Schintz Racing with everything you need to mount it on the ZX14 radiator. Just wire it in parallel is simplest.

I replace the plastic blade with a Muzzy aluminum fan blade. Of course, I had to cut it to size, and change the shape of the fins a little to make it work in the Schintz housing without sticking out where it would hit the radiator. Now all I have to do is balance it, and it will be good to go.

I also have a Muzzy aluminum fan blade for my stock fan. Not sure how much I'll have to trim for that, maybe less than for the Schintz fan.
