Brutha from anotha mutha...
10/24/09 8:18 PM

My name is Willy, I live in Northern Colorado, east of Fort Collins. I hope you all don't mind me dropping in. I actually ride an '08 Concours 14. I was on the fence at first whether to get the ZX or the Concours, but opted for the Connie due to comfort. (I'm OLD!!) But with that said, the ZX is still one HELLA sexy bike!! Wish I could afford one of each!

Anyway, if you live in Colorado, give me a shout. I'd love to hook up with some other fellow riders and do some good rides.

My longest ride to date has been a 324 mile day ride this last summer. I know that's NOTHIN compared to what I've read on here from some of you... My only regret was that I got too into the ride and never stopped to take pictures! LOL!

But here's my baby...I've already ripped out the flies, and I have a PC V on the way, as well as a set of 08 ZX headers on the way too...converting to duals. I haven't bought any mufflers yet, as I don't know what I want. I actually really like the look of the stock ZX pipes...but I'd have to make them a little louder.

Just got her in July, and have already put over 2K miles. Hoping to make some long trips next summer.

Very cool. You know, years back when i first started looking at bikes, the Connie is what caught my eye in the showroom. It is one impressive bike.

hope you find a riding buddy around here. I sure enjoyed a few trips with a couple forum members i met up with last summer.

you should be able pick up a barely used ZX-14 system or mufflers. A lot of people change exhaust before too long. you could try gutting them to get a louder sound. Slowninja has done that. Another thing you could do is cut the stock midpipes and weld on exhaust tips for car tailpipes. I know a guy who did that on his 14 and it sounds great. It is loud, if that's what you want and it is economical. You would need to have the bike tuned for best performance because there would be no map available for exhaust tips. Come to think of it, if the Connie has a single pipe, you aren't going to find any Connie maps for duals. Custom tune is the only option for optimum mapping.

oh - WELCOME!!!!

I looked long and hard at the Concours as I have a honda ST1300 and a ZX14 so its kinda the mix of both . I just had a hard time hoisting my leg over the luggage. Cant beat a sport tourer for doing great at almost everthing .
Nice Bike .
Welcome and enjoy

Hi, Willy.

I'm also old (63), but am doing quite well with the ZX-14. I guess I'm more interested in speed and power than in comfort at this stage of my life, and it's all there in the ZX-14.

(One thing I'm convinced of is that adrenaline keeps you young, and there's more of that to be had with the ZX-14.)

Maybe when (if) I grow up someday, I'll consider the Connie...

Greetings from Grand Junction, and welcome to the forum! -bg

Well, it's faster than anything I've ever had. But I'm sure compared to some of the setups found here, it's pretty tame.
I know we share the same engine and partially the same frame. But I also know that my engine is tuned far different than the ZX.

Here's one thing I love about it.

from

to

30 second conversion to a sport bike...
The saddle bags come off quick and easy.
That's not my bike, but will pretty much look like it when I'm done doing the dual conversion.

Still debating on custom painting it though. Part of me loves the clean stock look. The other part of me feels the urge to paint it like I did my Harley, and make it unique. I don't know.

Nice transformation indeed! Meh, i think this color really fits the bike well. Clean and smooth! Custom painting might ruin that!
