If a rapist wants to comit a rape in a bathroom, are there any laws currently in place other than disorderly conduct to stop him/her from entering bathrooms reserved for the opposite sex? If a rapist gets busted for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, does said rapist really care since he/she could have gotten busted for rape which is a felony? What if the rapist wants to rape someone of the same gender in a bathroom? People who commit sex crimes against children almost always are fully aware that attacking the child is the least effective way to carry out their crime. It's usually an act of deception and coercion, not violence. Unfortunately, it will continue to happen with or without child molesters being allowed use of the public restroom of their choosing. Finally, would allowing people who claim to be transgendered to use whatever bathroom they choose be more acceptable if gender appropriate security personnel were hired to monitor CCTV in public restrooms? I'll bet Target and all other dept stores would love to be able to legally watch what goes on in their bathrooms and it has nothing to do with transgendered people.
