Dyno-tune, Finally.
07/01/10 12:07 AM

Just got back from a dyno-tune... finally. The Jeffo map worked fine, but I wanted to compare. I'm no expert. Well, shit. Good news, bad news.

Good news is: with a stock tire & swingarm, I'm right around 200hp with about 113 lbs. torque. BUT... here's the ugly: I'm losing about 10 lbs. torque and 25hp because of my new heavy 240 tire (Dunlop Elite 3) and the massive amount of chain (4.5 inch stretch).

I did gain 14hp in the midrange with the new map over the stock map.

Friggin' magic to me.

Brock has this Diary he compiled on the 2006 14. I wanted to keep an eye on torque rating, not HP. Brock's 14 pushed 13 pounds and some change. That was a lot of dyno pulls if it took I don't know how many months or years to get that number.

Jeffo bangs out 13 over the phone, Brock is blowing eardrum for months?

JEFFO, U D'uh MAN!

I don't think it's chain or tire. It's distance from A to B in inch IS a handle like you gonna pick up a sledge hammer with a short handle or do damage with a long handle. Give and take it back is the crank has not lost hp has it is weight time torque time lost poo pee is ask if the crank lost a dime of HP you put something on that puppy and drag it along with that leach of a chain. Give and take did the crank lose HP at the shaft up your wink-wink!

There is something I cannot explain about Jeffo and that pee of a see what that thing does, but I do not piggy. I'm not smoking plugs but smoking tire off painted road markers I'm overrich no pig off the screen rich. I swapped injectors, not a map.

Yes, night and day difference you dial-in the A/F line. You fell ears have fun with the performance tuning. I'm just box stock tuning my way staying out of the box sort of speak.

Jeffo reminds me of points vs. map grid from X to Y. For example, by hand/eye, I would change so many points and condensers, first I would line up everything and guess at the gap. I may have hit a few without touching them after a timing light check found them on the money.

I think Jeffo has that knack in, "setting the points" then can bang one out of the park is my point sorta speak. Blew Brock out of the tub with a phone call is the ball it is too funny!

Hub, you give me brain freeze.

We did not plot the 'Jeffo' map. We started fresh.

The comparisons were made with a map & plot that I had done about a year ago (stock swingarm, stock rear tire, chain & dual Scorpion exhaust.

Blue, the tuner started anew & generated a totally new map. Is that what you mean?

RE: the Jeffo map. I didn't get a chance to complete all the things that Jeffo wanted me to do: different plugs, oil, pull the flies, etc.

Later on this summer, I'm going to compare back to back runs using the Jeffo map vs. my new custom map.

I did ask the tuner to tune more for 'drivability' than peak performance.

Syco, so far, I've seen 113lbs. torque on only Brocks and yours. Everyone else averages about 103lbs. Rare is the 110. What I'm saying is that your bike, the parts, the map, and whatever you did, just about reached peak torque if say the manual has that rated off a dyno to match your number the same way. Your tuner was a big part of it. Just saying, whatever time it took, it took Brock a lot longer; we have Jeffo out of the way.

Its just an optimistic dyno....I watched over a dozen zx's and busa's last week on the dyno..mine made 173 rwhp. All the big mouth guys who were bragging about making 190+ with their famous B pipe/map blah, blah all made mid 170 rwhp also....
