Which slip-ons produce the deepest tone?
03/11/13 1:25 PM

Would like to buy slip-ons that aren't TOO loud & that produce the deepest tone, not that high-pitched sportbike sound you hear so often.

Thanks!

You want an Akrapovic exhaust. Deep tone, loud but not obnoxious.

That "high pitched sportbike sound" usually comes from 600cc sport bikes. Not 1000cc+ bikes.

Almost all aftermarket mufflers are made the same; a perforated tube surrounded by some sort of sound absorbing packing material encased in a larger tube. The ones with the smaller encasing tube (D&D, for example) are the loudest because they have the least amount of packing surrounding the perforated tube. The only other actual variable is the size and number of the perforation holes in the inner tube. As far as 'deepest tone' that's really subjective.

Mate, go the Akras, they look and sound great.
If you insert the noise supressors they are not much louder than stock.
They are expensive but worth it. I have had mine on for a few weeks and I love them.
Yoshis are also really good and a lot cheaper.
Not a big fan of the two brothers pipes , had a set of black series , sold them and bought the Akras.

I've got Akra (Aprilia) and Yoshi (ZX14R) slip-ons, and minus any inserts, both have a deep tone without being too loud.

As already mentioned, D&D's are LOUD ! ... The D&D's on the Sprint should have come standard with earplugs.

I went with Yoshi R-77's this time around.Mellow and deep idle.Nicely unobtrusive at running speeds.I added the silencers only to 'mimic' the stock cats in the mufflers...pressure wise...they do however flow better than the stock cans...haven't run em without the silencers yet...don't plan to.I like em.Compared to say,a Brock's CT...they're much friendlier.IMO.

Go with the M4's. I put them on both my Zx-14 and my Wife's ZX-6R. They look and sound great. Her 600 now "growls" like a 900. And my 14 has that DEEP mellow "Growl" . But not obnoxious. The matt black finish blends in great with our Monster Energy Edition Bikes..

I have the Scorpion Titanium slip ons on my 2010 14. They are very very nice sounding... as I'm sure all are for this bike... lol, but they produce a very nice bass boom to them. Lots of compliments on the way my bike sounds...
here is a pic of them on the bike.

I added the Yoshi silencers this week and really like the sound. Quieter than without them, but still a nice growl.
... Reckon I'll leave them in for a while.

^^^^ YES SIR!!!!!!

I had Muzzy's too and they're also nice and great.

Let me confuse you a little... if you have the money get the Akrapovic slip ons best sounding can period but for that price, I'd just add more money and get the CT-Duals.

Beast they sound magnifico, exactly like my Yosh pipes...
Akra's are nice too, but really, I am not sure they make any difference. All I know is when the bike is warming up in the garage the pictures on the wall begin to rattle. Kinda love that!

I put on a set of two brothers black series with removable baffle inserts.
I think the bike sound pretty sweet.6-7 extra horsepower. Not that it needs it.

I love my Yosh's, but a little disappointed in the noise level. They sound GREAT, love the deep bass growl, just thought they would be a little louder. Not that I want stupid crazy Hardly Ableson straight pipe loud.

My buddy who rides with me some times said they sound REALLY good behind it while the bike is under load.

I had Yosh TRS's on mine, and swapped to V&H CSOone's because I liked the black cans over the stainless Yosh's. I prefer the sound of the TRS's though...much more of a growl than the high-pitched "shriek" of the V&H's.
