Your personal experiance, exhaust differences?
04/25/11 11:36 AM

I currently have the Brocks 20inch street meg full exhaust. And its pretty damn loud to say the least. I have a buddy that just bought a ZX14, and he wants it, so I told him to buy me a new exhaust and ill trade him. Brocks CT duals would be first on my list, but if I wanted to do a straight trade, I would need to keep it around $1000. I dont really want to lose any hp. I dont mind 1-2, but if its going to be 5+ ill keep the brocks. I want to get one thats a little bit quieter. Doesnt have to be a massive difference, just maybe 3-5 Dbs. I tried the Brocks Noise reduction plug, and that was a waste of money, didnt do shit, tightened it 3 times, and on the 5th day, it was missing.

So anyway, I was considering the full 2 Brother Dual Carbon Fiber exhaust. Thought with being duals, it might still flow good for Hp, but manage to be a little quieter. I had 2 brothers on my 07 R1, and it sounded good. Right now thats my main pick, I cant really find anything else that fits my search. Is there any im missing? What have you guys had good results with?

I forgot there was another full dual besides the Brock. JMO but I cant stand the CF pipes. They get real dingy looking before you know it. JMO WISH THERE WERE MORE OPTIONS FOR DUAlS! (I yelled that incase an exhaust manufacturer was listening)

Lotsa options... for a budget of around a grand for a new system, I'd be shopping around for a deal on a Ti-Force, Orient Express, Sato, or Akra (stainless header).

You already have one of the best systems, though. If sound is an issue for you, why not keep it and just put on a different pipe? Brock sells a Gen 3 conversion kit. Hindle Race (not standard) pipes are they same, too... or any pipe with a 2.25" inlet diameter can be made to work.

Hope you're not in a hurry to come across those headers. I'm not intentionally trying to be arguementitive but how often do you see them getting sold separately. There was a Orient Express full system a short while ago I should have jumped on. That really is a nice looking set.

How much do you think you can save for weight between early stock headers and an aftermarket set. Just curious. ;)

I wish I could pick up a CT style slip on, and put it on my Brocks header. The other brocks cans I cant really say I care for. The alien head looks fine, but I doubt its any quieter.

Ill look into those other brands you mentioned.

I've got the 20" street meg also, repacking the baffle helps quiet it down for a while,I've also thought about the plug, but your saying it doesn't work.I'm eventually going to go and see Hindle and do what they reccommend.I've had his systems on every bike I had owned since 73,always liked the Ti oval can

Stock 2006 zx14 header, 9.562 lbs

Hindle Race (stepped 2.25") / Brocks gen3 header / Kolk1's current header, 5.744 lbs

Keep an eye on the classifieds over on Psychobike. I picked up my CT single system for $800 tmd.
If you like the Sato, both Hard Racing and Kyle Racing quoted me just under $1k for it a few months ago.
