I've gotta say Using Motul 300V, the shifting has been pretty good, way better than with Mobil 1!

Is there a differenc betwen years? Looks to be all part numbers are the same??
Seen a few on eBay but it only says 06-07 or 06-09 nothing pass 09???
On factory pro site it just shows the same part number for all years...

Hey guys
came accross this as i bought a shift star kit here in the UK, now the engine is in a kitcar hope you don't mind!
Now i've fitted this and nautral to first and back again is great.
one thing that i've found confussing is the needing a screw driver to line up the gears when you fit the main basket back. i didn't need to do that it went straight back on. what does the split primary mean with the factory pro instructions
even in the manual it mentions a tool to align the gears but i didn't see where you would do that
anyone else go back without a tool!!
Edited to add i think they changed to a one piece gear?
cheers
john

"anyone else go back without a tool!!"...I have one on my 2013,and my 07 had one. Both needed that screwdriver deal to align.
You have to pull the shift shaft out.IF your bike is on the sidestand, yer gonna have a seriously oiled floor...just a heads up;)

I have on of these Factory Pro EVO shift stars on the way for my 2012 ZX14R.
Part number: SHFT-EVO-K96
As of April 8th, 2015 it's only $163 bucks if ordered on Amazon.com with FREE SHIPPING!
Anyone with a second gen 14R that has tips for the install, please post it here....it's all super helpful to prospective buyers including me

I'm surprised guys!
As Rook said I added one to my old 07 and it was a great upgrade and made a substantial difference to the smoothness of gear selection on the stock 07 gearbox setup.
IMO the 07 definitely benifited from it and I would highly recommend this option on any Gen 1.
But the Gen 2's?
They upgraded the gearbox on these, not a lot but enough to make the difference when it came to smooth shifting.
When I first rode a Gen 2 the shifting was great. This was also the case on my newly purchased 2012 so I see no need to add an Evo shift star as it shifts smooth as is?
The stock 2012 shifts like an 07 with a shift star.
So not for me on my Gen 2.
And I'm a guy who loves adding modifications that I feel make a difference?
Comments?

I'll know more after I complete the install in my 2012. Parts are all on order.
My review might be obscured by other modifications done at the same time, since I will have an all new clutch pack, Brocks clutch mod kit, and an oil change in addition to this shift star kit.
I had all stock parts up til now, including a slipping clutch that turned out to have some issues (click HERE for that thread), as well as a good 2,500 miles since my last oil change. It wont be a true before and after comparison to see the effect of JUST the shift star mod in my bike, but I figured since I had her opened up and probably wont again for a long time....might as well throw it in now.
There's some guys here who have 'em installed in second-gens including the man himself Cblast. If he says it's an improvement it probably is!
