Bestem, aka Cruiserbackrest on ebay store, sells some cf pieces for different bikes.

Just recently they added the belly pan pieces (left and right halves) and I purchased them today.

Once I get them, and see how they install, I'll post to this thread my observations.

I've ordered some stuff from them and its always been nice. I need to replace my belly's anyways so definitely follow up.

Bestem makes good quality carbon fiber!

Dubious was very pleased with the stuff he bought from them on ebay.

Received the box late this afternoon. Opened it. Well packed, and I peeked inside the foam bags and the cf looks very nice indeed. Smooth as glass, good pattern, quite thin and ultra-light of course.

The holes are pre-drilled, so as soon as I have time, I'll install and post about that.

When I opened the box and lifted the foam bag out, I was afraid they'd only sent me one side, it was so light. Heh. No problem, both are there.

Ok, will be a bit 'til I post about installation and fit. I need to order the padding for them, since they don't come with it installed.

I got the belly cowling (LWR fiche speak) installed, and so can review it now. Pics soon.

First, I had to wait for the padding, which I got today.

Also, when I held the pieces up to a light, I could see some light through the clear expoxy resin and the carbon fiber weave. Its not really a problem, I just added more back coat by spraying them with some flat black.

The 3 top holes where the wellnuts go had to be drilled out slightly on both pieces, they were undersize. And the holes for the quick rivet were undersize, I just used a rattail file and opened them up enough in a few seconds easily.

Where the two pieces come together at the quick rivet, they didn't quite match up right, again, a few seconds with a small file solved that as well.

You can't put the left piece on unless you have a center or rear stand, because the kickstand is in the way. I just put mine up on the rear stand. One of those times I wish I had the center stand. Lacking those, you could just get someone to hold the bike upright long enough for you to put the piece up and put a bolt in it, then put the kickstand back down.

The appearance of the pieces is excellant, and they fit pretty well overall. A little tweaked (by maybe 1/16") at two bolt holes, but pressing on the piece aligned it just fine.

I'll take picks tomorrow and put them in this thread.

The CF doesn't look as good as i thought it would on the bike.. I'm slightly dissapointed.

Perhaps it would look better on a lighter colored bike. Or possibly even better in person i dunno.

I have the same pieces and I thought they would stand out more also, but they change in different light and angles. I just found this sight and haven't tried pics yet, but I was on the other now gone forum since 06 so I will.

Yes, my 08 is metallic midnight saphire blue, and actually, I think the belly cowling looks quite good on it. As soon as you get close to the bike it is obvious it is carbon fiber.

I have since gotten two pieces of vinyl decal lettering in kanji for "ZX-14" and put them about an inch from the top of the cf cowling on each side. Now I wish the rest of the decals the factory put on were in kanji. :)

I'm going to do a powerbronze cf hugger and either a bestem or pb cf front fender.

Some day if we can get a 14 down to Alien Composites long enough for them to make molds, I'd like to change out all the plastic for carbon fiber. I think it would be absolutely gorgeous !
