Welcome!
I'm new to the forum and to the ZX14 but when you guys say taking the flies out what does that mean?

Subthrottles are the technical term. These are like a screen door to the main door. Keeps the breeze from flying into the house. It smooths the throttle apply when you are aggressive on the throttle opening. It also acts as an air brake when you let off and coast from a high speed. It gives the bike its full potential at the top, but the bottom is not as robust as it would be with flies out.
So the sacrificial fly is removed for more bottom end grins. It just creates a faster event rather than wait for the fly to open. The throttle is more abrupt, more twitchy, and super responsive.

Congrats, Nothing sounds like the wide open scream of the M-10 lol. Almost should have a bust me sticker. I'm looking for M-10 right side Muffler. You selling ? if so send me PM.
You boyz are brave...actually impressive and skilled is more apt. I fear touching the internals...FEAR IT!
That's what we all use to say. Wait till you see what's next. 100 bucks says one year and all fear is gone.

There's not a lot to be gained by removing flies on 2008-up because they made the flies open right where the bike starts making it's power, 3000rpm. 06-07 had to run restricted all the way to 6000 rpm before the flies opened.

BTW... when I said YANK THEM ASAP I was talking to Grason, like Rook mentioned, doing that on 08-up doesn't yield mucho performance but 06-07 the flies don't open fully before 6000rpm. I'd still yank them out though... reason being that air will go through an non existing door faster than through a door that opens progressively, however the doors could produce more velocity. A set of V Stacks and good map should provide the best of both worlds!

Yes. I pulled them on my 08 and I don't feel any reason to put them back in. One thing that they did on the 08 was cause a rather sudden burst in power at 3500 rpm. I had a couple scares taking off into a sharp right hand turn from a light. The power came on abruptly in first gear before I was out of the turn. If you pull flies and tune for that, the throttle response at 3500rpm can smoothed out considerably. I think Kaw may have smoothed out the flies-in performance at some point after 08...IDK?
On the 14r, the flies may have something to do wit the TC so IDK if fly pulling is ever a good idea there. You'd have to ask opinions on that, Wolfie. I haven't heard that the throttle response is unpredictable or that low end performance was lacking on the 14r so they probably got it right on the new bike first shot.

A Kwakaker in green.. you cant go wrong !!
I just picked up an 2011 with 1,890 miles. My first impressions
are ,Smooooooth ,smooth power, ride, brakes, shifting. For a big bus
it goes around corners nicely but it will take
sone getting use to the weight of the bike maneuvering
around traffic!
