Upgrading the 2012 ZX14
07/13/13 10:34 PM

Looking for some help and info on performance upgrades. Have almost 15k on bike in almost a year. I mostly do commuting, weekend twisty rides, few high speed runs on our favirote closed courses.LOL, may do some drag races this summer. I normally ride the bike in full power mode with tration control set to 1.

Current setup on the Zx14:
Two Brothers slip-ons w/db1 sound tips, fly's removed, pair block off, PC5 with customr map. Current dyno results 200.2 hp with 115 trq,

The things i've noticed and would like to get rid of:
1). can feel the bike step down once rpms drop under 5k. Almost feels like in a car when u get out of gas and it automatically downshifts to a lower gear.
2), feels tame in lower 3 gears until rpms above 6k.
3). Any diffrence in mapping in full power mode wit traction controll turned off versus set to traction control setting 1? Only diffrence i noticed is that front wheel would lift sooner and rear wheel woul spin at will..LOL.

was wondering if ECU flash would help remidy this from those who have had it done,
Also looking to switch to brocks CT duals or maybe just getting the ACRO headers with current set up. Not sure it would get me anything over the stock headers other than saving a few pounds of weight.
\\\
Yeah i know she has more power than anyone can really use on the street but im looking to make her be all she can be...Just because..lol

Brock's CT Duals and his flash and map support etc is a proven path to reliable HP. imo. Many ways to go. Depends how involved you want to be too. Those akrapovic headers and a flash from Guhls or ivans should also give you the smoothness and quality power you seek I think. Also woolich racing has great options for someone that would like to try their hand at self flashing. I want to see pics whatever ya do! :)

Agreed!

Some people are Ford some are Chevy just like some people Suzuki an some people are Kawasaki! This topic can get hot very quick!

Brock's vs Ivan

The best thing you can do is do the research yourself an come up with your own Conclusion. I have seen the numbers form both set-ups and even saw an road both set-ups I went with Ivan's but again that's just my opinion!

1. Reflashed ECU
2. Ackro pipe off my 2007 ZX14
3. PC5
4. Flys still in

Good luck. Keep us in the loop an let us know with what you choose I'm very curious with what makes the cut!

Well that's my

This is how she sits now. May just cut down the Two Brothers about 6-8 inches to free up rear end with the 8 in stretch.and get the ACRO header and a ECU Flash.

What are those? 3" oberons or crg's? my $ says crg. I like em. A lot.
And are those a preload adjuster only? Or do they allow you to tweak rebound on the fly without twisting the shit out of my thumbnail?

They actualy 3 inch fork cap covers with ZX lettering. Raised the forks up 2 inches to lower front end and used covers to protect fork adjusters.

Got the heal gaurds off ebay, for like 25 bucks for the set. All year heal gaurds are the same.

Got adjustable shift and brake levers from cycle pirates.
