Werks: Sometime when you have the box off would you post a picture of your home made rack and how you attached it?? Thanks !!!
Streetracer,
The pannier and top racks are an integrated unit requiring 2 bolts and 2 clamps for install and removal. The SS bolts attach at the passenger footpegs and the clamps attach at the grab handle. The pannier racks can be attached alone, but the top rack cannot. It would be easy enough to make a separate top rack as I've done with the Aprilia (see attached). On the ZX14R I use a tail bag and/or tank bag when not using the pannier racks.
The pannier rack adapter plates are homebuilt using HDPE plastic with SW-Motech (for Givi) connectors.
The pannier racks are 7/8" aluminum tubing and the top rack supports are 1/8" aluminum plate. The aluminum
is bolted to the adapter plates. The top rack adapter plate is by Givi. Everything is coated with Plasti-Dip.
Pannier racks, top rack, and optional luggage rack for carrying a folding bicycle in a large hardside suitcase.
ZX14R Pannier racks minus top rack. It take about 5 minutes to install / remove
Stand alone top rack on the Aprilia using a Bestem adapter plate and some aluminim plate.
Unlike the ZX14R, I drilled and bolted through the Grab handle rather than clamping.
Folding bicycle case, or the worlds largest top box (32"X12"X21")
