Exhaust question
07/18/12 2:35 PM

So I have the Two-Brothers Carbon Fiber Slip-On right now, and I really want a full exhaust. However I have run into a problem. My wife has become accustomed to using the exhaust as a foot rest (along with the actual peg) so I really need a dual exhaust, as well as carbon fiber cans. I cant really seem to find anything :(

help? and just cause i know you guys love them, here are some pictures :p

I guess your only solution is Brocks 4-1-2 duals. Its fairly expensive but gives better midrange over his alienhead.I had those slipons but was wanting a full system.Didn't have the wife problem.Took her for a ride when I first got it.I hit it in second shifted it in third about ninety and she wouldn't get back on.I said come on I was kiddin.

I'm not seeing a carbon canned dual system on their site. Do you have a link?

Try this one...

http://www.brocksperformance.com/SlipOn-System-Dual-GEN-3-+I300954+C229.aspx

The same as these, but with Carbon Fiber Cans:

But if you want Brock's there are no Carbon full systems - you'd have to go with Akra or some other manufaturer...

Pull your header (or buy a spare and sell the leftover later) and have it coated by Jet-Hot for around $200. There will be no appreciable difference between that and a full 4-into-1-into-2 system unless you lay on the garage floor and look up. And $200 is a buttload cheaper than $1200.

Why don’t you just gut the cat out of the mid pipe than it’s a full exhaust!

They have a fair amount of surface rust so I think I'm going to replace them, or sand/wrap them. But my understanding is if I just gut the midpipe, I'm gonna loose some low end torque.

^^Also that stock header is made of very thick steel. Aftermarket will weigh a lot less even compared to a gutted stock header.

I bet the weight difference in the stock header and after market one is within a pound or 2. I think gutting the cat and ceramic coating the stock header is a great idea. I'd like to do that myself, honestly, but I've found that gutting that cat is not easy to do. I imagine I would have to take it to some machine shop or something to get it cut and welded back together.

I know that your reciprocating saw with a decent metal blade sure ain't gonna cut it...

Nope!

The Brocks CT Dual system on my 2010SE only weighs about 8 lbs...THE ENTIRE SYSTEM! The OEM header alone weighs more by itself...

I suppose that's a titanium system? I figured it was a little closer, because I just packaged up an 07 header and it was 11.2 lbs with box and packaging. Looks like the difference might be as much as 4-5 pounds I guess.

I like that idea about getting the heads Jet hot! I am going to do this for sure.
Just keep your stock headers and get carbon slipons of your choice.None of us are ever going to be able to use the potential of the 14 unless we hit the track every weekend anyways lol. So loosing the weight of a stock header should not be a big deal unless you do not mind spending 1k for a full system mmmm no thanks I just removed the cats polished my heads and I am going to send off to Jet hot. but..... I just might might... Mod the stock header cut and weld it into a 4 2 1 hmmmm

Personally, I love the look of the Yoshimura single side full exhaust for this bike. Really blends well with the rest of the bike's design, and vastly improves the asthetics from the stock mufflers.

And at $889, its not priced nearly as high as some of the other full exhaust systems.

I swear half of this forum is to stupid to read what the thread is even about before posting something that is completely irrelevant. Like a single sided chrome exhaust FOR THE WRONG BIKE!

That's pretty mean. A 20 second google search would have answered the original question versus waiting 2 weeks to get no answer here....

I think people were just trying to give you some alternatives....

Caps I forgot that your bike is a 2006 and in 06-07 there is no cat in the midpipe so you do have a full exhaust and if I were you I would just get your header (or buy another one from an 06-07)and get it ceramic-coated!
