Q2 vs PP 2ct
02/02/13 6:38 PM

Tire time for the 14 and im tore between these 2. Just want some feedback from ppl thats actually ran these tires on a 14 and not all the reviews from random ppl on the tire websites. I want something thats def gonna stick when i throw it hard into a corner, and if it sticks and get decent mileage even better. So I wanna hear form someone thats pushed their bike hard on these tires, and see what your opinions are before i order a set. Thanks in advance.

I have Pilot powers on mine now, really like them, no problems with letting go & they give great feedback. Currently 6000Kms with probably another 2 to 3000Kms before they are toast! I have a 55 profile on the rear, helps a little with turn in.

To even it out, I've been on Q2s front and rear for 4000km. Look new despite some hard rides.
Highly recommended.
Mottomummy does a good price on a set.

For spirited riding, I would go with the Q2's. You can get 4000 miles on them if you use the sides as much as the center of the tire.

Fitz i use pilot power 2ct one of my favourite tyres they stick like shit to a blanket mine last 3.500klms rear 7000klm front i push them hard knee down through the twisties they have a real fast tip in which i love and i can honestly say u will not out ride this tyre on the road only down side i have found is when they are down to the wear markers they start to go of a bit and wen they let go they do fairly fast just keep this in mind . u won't go wrong with either tyre just warm them up and away u go hope this helps. also try the new s20 i think they might be better than the pp2ct i just fitted a set they are awesome

Looks like I'm going with the Q2's. I have an appointment on Tuesday to get the oil and tires changed. They made the decision real easy for me, they only had the Q2's in 190/55 in stock, plus they were a few bucks cheaper. I think after I these get worn out I might try the pilot powers 3's, there is just not enough feedback yet to jump on them. Thanks for everyone's input.

I did a full day at the track with Top Rider and Bernie Hatton last week.
It was level 1, but we were pushing the bikes into corners like I have never done before.
I was keeping pace with a S1000RR BMW and a Fireblade through the corners - in the dry.
BUT it rained on and off in the morning. The Q2s are outstanding in the dry, but add moisture and I felt a lot less secure. Some other tires/bikes - Metzellers on the BMW, and Pilot 3's on a KTM 990 - didn't seem to slow up much.

Could be me - I was not keen to drop my baby and grip is a feel thing and therefore subjective - but the Q2s and wet roads were very different from Q2s and dry.

All the 50/50 tires are like that. Q2's, Corso Rossa etc. The Pilot Road 3 are made for the rain and have pretty good grip in the dry. The only thing I don't like about them is the way they go from partial to full lean. The transition is not linear at all.

I had very good performance from the Dunlop Streetsmart 1's.I was a bit reluctant to give em a go...but after trying em...they worked and lasted very well.
