newbie of different kind

Hello

I am a newbie from Pikeville, KY . I am a newbie of a different kind and I need some help. I would like to find a very qualified mechanic near me. I am installing a High HP built ZX14 in my Arctic cat wildcat utv. I am as green as anyone can be on these engines. I will be ready for a start up in a few weeks I have several questions. I would feel better if I could find someone in the area who knows these engines well, for a little hand holding --so to speak. Thanks JB

Welcome, 2fast

I have no clue where in Ohio to point you to a 14 type mechanic. Join more 14 sites and see if members that hang there may know?

If I were a mechanic with a lot of skill, I'd plug a 14 in an wildcat something like this.

1. Use:
a. The ECU
b. The wire harness
c. The throttle body

2. Do not:
a. Alter or cut the wire harness
b. Alter the throttle body

3. Make:
a. an engine mount with integrity that makes the tires fall off axles, not an engine that falls out the back.
b. the engine serviceable like: know your fill and drain areas have access as well as, the top cover and air cleaner access areas.
c. any wiring off the OEM wire harness accessed from the weather-pac rubber covers behind the connectors. Safety wire jammed into the male/female connector is the contact end. A soldered wire to the end of the safety wire has enough integrity to use a fuel piggy, or whatever jobber you plug into any harness connector at the backside. To hold the wire from popping out and also it can be removed as if no wire, nor any glue was used, is find the brand name 'amazing goop' glue for you wire harness mounts. For some jobs, I use zero nuts/bolts/washers/drilling when mounting switches, fuel, or AFR meters. You'll experiment with the glue and find out where you'll need it. Fuck ductape if you know what I mean once you work with a tube.

Other than that... Have at it.

Yea I have done what you said . I have a new harness and ecu and most switches and speedometer . I have already mounted the engine in the WC. I am making the headers now, should finish them tomorrow. This engine is suppose to have 270 HP I bought it from muzzy's. It is a fresh build top and bottom they had in their race program. I am not sure I understand the fuel pump requirements and also several questions on the cooling. I sure don't want to mess up on these things after being so close. Also I need to put a power commander and map in it. I don't know much about the fuel controller or map.
