Switchable TRE Mod?
07/21/09 2:50 PM

Has anyone done a switchable TRE mod? I have one on my 02 GSXR and its great! If I'm going to be street riding on Thursday night I can have it off and if someone wants to play all I have to do is flip a switch.

I guess what I'm really asking is why the ZX14 forums don't have a "write up" section?

What do you think? Should we start the first?

We have a How-Toos forum. I've heard of switchable TREs before but it's been some time. Be interesting to find out why anyone would want to swich it off. Performance and fuel economy is better with, No?

Well to be honest I like the ride of the No TRE setup. It really helps in traffic and city riding. Then turn it on when you want to take off a little more. Kind of like a compliance /non-compliance mode switch on a B-King.

Also, I like the gear indicator and if you make it switchable you can switch between looking at in 6th all the time or stock.

I will do a switchable TRE this weekend and add the Pics so that others can fallow if they want.

PS, if you do a switchable it will only cost as much as a six pack of Bud. I bought the switch from Radio Shack today for $3.99 and a pack of 6 resistors for $.99. (You can pass the other 5 out to your friends) So for a few bucks the mod will not hurt just to try it and if you don't like it then turn it off. As simple as that. No need to spend $50 bucks on a TRE and then decide you don't like it.

Okay, I lied about the cost. First you need to buy a Six pack then spend about the same on the parts.

Another reason to do a switchabe TRE is for Cold Days, hard starting, you can start it in stock mode until the bike warms up a bit. Then switch it on... Just a thuoght
