Heli .vs Genmar ?
04/16/09 1:35 PM

They seem almost identical to me, but the Genmar's will likley cost about $20 less to get to me up here. Any reason not to choose the Genmar's over the Heli's? I read one post that mentioned something about tighter brake line fitment with the Genmar's, but not much else.

Help me make up my mind.

Cheerio.

If I remember the Genmar is a little higher (hence the tighter breakline). Don't have them, but heard lots of good things.

I have the Heli and am really pleased with them - I think I purchased them because they (to me) seemed to integrate better w/ the bike in terms of visual appearance. Only like 1/2" or so taller, but made a notable improvement in my ride comfort - my wrists would hurt a bit after a 45 min commute to the office.

Heli went on very easy, can't say anything about the Genmar...

I would look at pics of the two to see which you like and consider that the Genmar being higher might give you more of what you're looking for.

I tried the Genmars on my 08 and couldn't fudge enuf slack into the brakeline for them to fit. Went with the Heli Risers, fit perfectly. They are only 1/4" diff in height, with the Genmars being the taller of the two............ RON

I cried because I could not wheelie. Till I met a man with no motorcycle....

I had Helis, then wanted to try the Genmar because of a bit more rise and drop back. They fit perfectly. I had to "rotate" the right clipon onto the fork tube over the Genmar spacer on that side. Just was careful, took my time, nudged it on. Once on, the hose was taut but not stretched or strained. 1,000 miles later, still perfect.

Sticking with the Genmar.

I have the Heli. Great fit and finish. If the slightly higher rise is most important to you than go with the Genmar. The Heli fits me just right.

Installed the Heli risers this afternoon. It only took a matter of minutes, and now I have ot wait to get off work to give them a try. I can certainly tell their is a difference just sitting on her, hoping it does the trick. I think it will.

I chose the Genmars for one main reason. They have a cap. The Helis have a weep hole for moisture but that wouldn't help with the other organic fallout which would collect in the wells.

I got Genmars on my 14 it was one of the first mods I did to her last year when I got her and I have to said I love them very much that one inch makes a World of difference on my lower back. And I agree with Sharkey , the Genmars have that cap keeping the dirt out not to mention a cleaner look. Also it was a very straight forward installation with no problems from short lines or cables it took me less than 10 minutes to installed both of them.

trike
I think these will help a bunch. I would also look at doing the Buell peg mod if the quarters are a little tight.

Just curious, why would you lower the front end?

Lowering both front and back is something many do for looks, but I'd never do it because it negatively affects handling.
