I'm planning on getting a brock's alien head ceramic coated black. It is $300 difference between coated and polished is the coating worth the $300? How well does this coating hold up? Will it last say 5-6 years?

Any of the aftermarket full systems are going to run a lot cooler than the stock exhaust. I doubt very much if ceramic improves on the cooling effect more than 10% but it is the only way to go for asthetic purposes. I wouldn't trust any paint to last long and it probably won't look as good to the discerning eye either. I would imagine Brock has it done high quality.
The ceramic coating on my pipe was not done by anexperienced person and I donb't think the processes or the materials he used were worth a crap either. The coating has not been very durable. It is starting to come off pretty noticably now after a coule years.
I hear these guys are good. Privy recomended. You can ship to them. I plan to bring my system there. They do powdercoating too.

+1 Rook.
On my ZX14 I shipped my new CT-Duals to Classic Coatings, and had them do flat black outside and race coat inside.
Does it make more HP? All data on the internal race coat (used on Indy cars, top fuel cars, etc.) is that it accelerates gas flow, increasing exhaust gas velocity and scavenging. So it makes more HP. How much on your relatively tame engines? Maybe 2 horsepower, but hey, 2 horses > 0 horses.
When I traded my ZX14 in two weeks ago, the ceramic coating was still in pristine condition, and I rode the wheels off that puppy on many a long trip.
Also, I think the ceramic coating lessened the amount of heat I felt on my feet and lower legs.
On my new Connie, they have solved that, and I don't feel any heat whatsoever on my feet and legs.

Hey privateer do you feel the coating would've held up for a good 5-6 years?
I have no experience with ceramic coatings at but I do like the black alien head but on the other hand if it's going to chip off and look like shit in a couple years why waste the money.
