Jumped off the deep end.
03/14/11 9:22 PM

Traded my big bore/stroker motor in on a stock motor (still going through it to make sure its going to live a long time)

sold my BST wheels and putting the stockers back on, with some regular ol' street tires.

Swappin my swingarm out for the stock arm.

Sold my drag seat, bought a connie gel seat.

Just ordered a set of bar risers.

Picking up a set of saddle bags this week.

Installing a cruise control as soon as i finish the motor.

Going from low 8s to a mid 9 second cruiser this winter. Already made plans to attend our local 5 state run (5 states in 1 day), planning to make a few big trips this summer. Progress report will be posted occasionally.

for now this is how she looks:

It's a $1400 arm. I'll do $900 shipped (may take a while to find a box this will fit in) or $800 if you pick it up.

Cool to see you converting it back to a road bike. Welcome back to the land of twisties.

Especially cool to see since you plan to ride the twisties, you are going back to the stock length swingarm.

Yours and bad's ZX14 are just about the only ZX14 in this forum who have extended swingarms and aren't posers.

I had a prostreet front wheel (16" and low profile tire).

It was more cost efficient to just sell them then to try selling just the front and buying a street front.

Cool part is, even though your restoring it, you'll still be able to flog it at the track to get your rocks off when you need too. Hope the process goes smooth and quick for you.

Cool thing about the seat. I've tried the solo cowl on it. It's really tight, and lacks about 1/4" to line up to the holes (i'm going to have to pull 1 staple if i want to put well nuts in the front). I think with a little fanangling (yes thats a word) I can get it on there. I may leave it off though, can't run the bags with the solo cowl anyways.

I don't think you need to worry about the seat cowl, I have a Ogio tail bag I keep strapped on the rear of the seat 100% of the time. Great way to carry all the little crap I seem to need and like you said its of no use when carrying your bags. My harley has a small bag on the front forks.

Do u think the low gel seat is more comfortable then the stock C14 seat?

Wouldn't have a clue. Never sat on (or even touched) a stock connie seat.

Taking the seat to the track tomorrow. Hopefully someone will have a zx14 i can put it on and see how it feels. lol

Okay Slow...I see you got your seat there....can you tell me the part number for that seat? That seat right there IS NOT the one showing on the Kawasaki accessories website for the "Kawasaki Low Gel seat"...which fits zx14 06 and up AND Concours...all model years from 08 up.It is NOT the Low Gel I bought way back in 08.This is a genuine Kawasaki part you have? .This is the seat on their official site.

Looks the same to me.

I ordered it through the dealer, through the concourse option list.

I think what they've done is to actually use the concours seat foam on the latest LowGel seats. They weren't doing that when I bought mine.Yours definitely looks "thicker" to me than the one in the website pic...the accessory picture. The silver piping is also different.Look on the line where it goes around and down.Yours is definitely on the "inside" of the seam. The web pic is on the "outside" of the bowl. You have that "crease" across the bowl there(which could be a shadow..IDK)Yours also has a secondary seam line running across the seat behind the hump. The web pic has no seam.Just sayin....If that's a genuine Kawasaki seat...it's been redesigned at Kawasaki.Which is GOOD.I don't know if privateer has this same seat...he never showed any pics of it,or had a number for it.He(we) had a disagreement over it cause he was sayin it was a "factory Concours Low Gel Seat"...only thing I was seein was the SAME pic I showed for BOTH bikes...14 and Concours(which DID NOT have the Concours foam in it)My ass testified to that. The one I bought was able to fit the cowl on there with no issues.Your rear pillion looks different as well...more roundish than my original Low Gel was.Could just be the angle of the pic there.

IF they are using Concours foam...then a seat purchase would be a good upgrade. It looks very nice...

I'm only really curious about the part number...They made a few upgrades to their valve cover gaskets...and on the parts fiches it shows "supercedes part number" whatever. The old number is crossed out.So I'm wondering IF they're renumbering these seats now. That one you have has been altered from that web pic.

I don't want anyone to think I'm meddling or trying to "find out" some kind of deal here...I'm not.I would seriously think about buying that seat you got,IF it actually WAS a different foam(Concours). That's all I'm really trying to determine.

So anyways,

stock swingarm is now installed. Along with a softer spring for the shock. As well as the stock subframe, undertail, AND tag bracket. And 1 passenger peg (cant figure out what i did with the left side?)
