zx636/10 fender mod brackets
06/22/11 2:53 PM

looking for some feedback on a fender adapter bracket kit to bolt on any zx636 or zx10 fender to the zx14 or the connie
1400. how much interest is there?

cost should be in the $30/$35 range. will depend on the hardware cost. will keep cost as low as possible. will be made from high quality material using high end equipment to manufacture. no junk here.

is this worth pursuing?

A guy with a forum name dubious sold a nice kit a while back. I'm still using it.

Not sure if you would get many bites, but its worth asking. Quite a few of us have already done it.

If you do it, test fit your prototype and make sure it goes on easy and correctly and positions the ZX10 or ZX6 front fender properly.

The kit dubious sold worked well, but I had to chase a couple of the threads with a tap because the provided bolts started to bind on insertion.

If it helps I don't think I would bother. There will always be people who want to do things like that but if you're think of making money at it I just don't see a big demand.

not looking to make it a profitable thing. just another option for a fast and easy upgrade. the 14 does run a bit on the hot side. not a good thing for circulation issues in the legs. all the heat can and will cook your bloodvesels over a period of time.

personally think its a mod worth doing for the long haul riders or anyone who rides in warmer climates.

test fit is the key. will have a couple of pair made , threaded and powdercoated and see what happens.

thanks for the feedback. just the type i was looking for.

hope they turn out as expected.

Good link, Zerk. I had come across those before.

I'm using the ones dubious made, he did this before you could get them pre-made.

My experience, if you put a ZX10 fender on, you better put the COX radiator guard on too, because a lot more gravel and pebbles and junk will get past the sides and top of the fender.

Like I said elsewhere, Kawasaki didn't put anything on the ZX14 that doesn't have a good purpose, and that OEM front fender does a decent job of deflecting junk that would otherwise hit the radiator.

Good deal, naturalhi. Dubious' kits were pretty cheap too. Plain jane get the job done. Love mine.

I'm a machinist myself, retired, and have a good friend 15 minutes away who still runs a machine shop. We could whip a set out but I don't want to be bothered.

I'm trying to get the guy making crash bars (to protect the Givi side cases and handlebars, front and rear) for the C14 to make a set for the ZX14 since the frames are so close to being the same.

Same with trying to get a guy to make "highway pegs" who is already making a nice set for the C14.

Because I don't want to fool with it, and my friend has more paying work than he can handle sometimes.

Glad you stopped by the forum, we need more like you. Hope you hang out with us too.

Why not form a group buy? I'm in just for a spare set even though I could get mine local from friend for materials cost.

Want to help reward people who do this kind of stuff for our user's group.

fyi, the kit i got was not powdercoated, really no need to do that. It's hidden behind the fender, raw aluminum is fine. Its not like it will rust

Apparently he never did them, I would have purchased a set for the 2012 C14 I'm buying in late spring....

It's not really that hard to make your own.

I agree what one of the posters said about protecting the radiator.

Twisted Throttle offers these:

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/6668/524/

I looked for a fenda extenda for a ZX-10 fender, but I guess one is not made.

I use my 14 for GT Touring, so now I'm wiring up a set of driving lights on the unused, stock, fender supports.

If they are $35 shipped, put me down for a pair. Like @SPORTSMAN says, "It's not that hard to make your own," but my situation is that I just can't find the time.

sportsman, are those Denali 1s or 2s? they look like 1s.

I am about to put a set of 2s on mine in the same place, except I used the bracket for the reflector to get them down lower.

I just drilled the hole for the reflector out offcenter large enough for the M6 mounting bolt on the mill, then cut gussets and welded them in place and sent the brackets to be powder coated.
