I went for a long ride on 4th of July, and on my way north back from Big Sur, I rode on Hwy 101 in the vicinity of Hollister CA. I was unaware of this rally, but I did pass a large number of Harley dudes going south. So much so, it was curious as I passed maybe 3 or 4 sport bikes, and maybe 75 Harleys, not all in one group, some pairs, and one group of about 12.

Today I read this in the local news.

3 bikers shot at rally

Glad I ride a ZX-14... at least the sport bikers I know don't carry loaded weapons.

That's nothing. The 'Slipper Gang' passed me like they were popping so much I could hear them coming. Then coming home, I passed another gang and their colors read, 'PAIR Packers' and they stunk going by.
