which alarm system?

I'm looking for an alarm system that I can just plug into my 14 without cutting or splicing wires. Has anyone put a plugin alarm on their bike?

I have a Gorilla, it works fine. Some of my "rich" friends have Scorpion alarms, which cost about three times as much. Not sure its worth that much money....

If your bike gets stolen, three guys will jump out of a truck and just throw it in the back and drive off. At least, thats the majority of 2008 sportbike thefts.

An expensive Scorpion isn't gonna stop that, neither is a disc lock. Park it where they can't get it or see it, like in your garage, or in your apartment if you have to. I did that even when I lived in the Batchelor Officer's Quarters on post, long ago, and through several apartments too.

When I ride to work, I park right outside the office door. Right where there are usually people who would look if the alarm went off, and call 911.

Or do like wild animal herds do crossing a croc-infested river.... park amongst a lot of bikes, safety in numbers. :)

Privateer its funny you say park inside... I use to park mine right in the kitchen of the townhouse I rented until maintenance told on me one day and I was forced to buy a shed...

I paid 320 or so bucks a few years back for a scorpio alarm with all the bells and whistles on my 14. It locks up and won't disarm on hot days, the sirens weak, and it randomly goes off in my garage at night even when its off. Plus the customer service was rude as hell when I called them up about it. Because of those issues I bought a $149 Internatrix TW-400 for my busa......it hooked up as easy as the scorpio, has all the same features, and works flawlessly Its now called the TW-1000 with a few more features, but I would still highly recommend it http://www.internatrix.com/

I looked at the $149 Internatrix TW-1000 but it's not a direct plugin. I'd have trace down and use posi-taps to get some of the extra options to work. I just want to plug and play. Interesting info in the FAQ section about the FCC approval, though.

I didn't think about the reduction on my insurance premium which is due up in a month. Good catch. I have to call Geico and see what they'll do for me.
