Never heard of this company, but their fabric lasts longer in a slide than leather.

Blurb says "as good as some leathers" I'm sure it's better than fashion-weight leather, but I doubt it's as good as 4mm armored leathers, elsewise MotoGP racers would be wearing it.

And not to downgrade the stuff. I know for a fact that armored textile can protect your hide in a 60-mph slide down the pavement with zero road rash or burn.

I have been looking for clothing that I can wear for around town errand running and commuting. I currently wear over-pants on my commute and having options that are primarily protective but also stylish would be great. These look like a nice option.

Danno; Not a lot of people wearing race grade leathers on the street. Sure there's better, but how many people wear jeans, and what happens to the textile when the contact point of the slide is not on the armour?

I'm not saying this stuff is the answer. They don't even make my size, but I thought it was an interesting new alternative. Speaking of... why do companies make jackets out to 5XL, but their pants only to 42"?

Since Illinois doesn't have a helmet law, I see people riding bare-headed all the time, so as far as people not wearing high-quality protective gear when they ride, there's no cure for stupid.

The only way to prove if this new alternative to more traditional gear is any more or less protective will be for someone to put it to the test. If the price is competitive, I'm sure someone will. It's already been proven that a cheap helmet is pretty much as protective as an expensive one, and either is infinitely more protective than no helmet at all. So, like armored jeans, if this stuff can get someone to wear gear that didn't before, it's great.

I tend to be skeptical when it comes to advertiser's claims.

Definitely good to know about this. Right now, brand seems hard to find in the US. $200 price range for the jeans.

The Draggin Jeans made it 3 seconds, and around 50-60%. I wonder how well products in this $100 price range compare against each other. I have some I think Joe Rockets that were around $100. But I have no idea how well they really would hold up.

One things for sure...Levi's is about .1 second superiour to long underwear. Wow...complete fail for "wear jeans" people.

You can get leather with the armour for the same or less.

So is the point style? People just don't want to wear leather?

If you look around and maybe wait for a closeout or sale you can
get complete leather suit with armour for same as just those jean pants.

Sure, I've looked at the textile, jeans, Kevlar stuff, but just don't see
why you wouldn't just buy leather instead.

piken, you wear leather year round in Phoenix ? leather is great, but I rarely use
it in Cali. its just too hot (most of the time) an alternate to the jeans listed
above are draggin which are about $100 or Sliders Kevlar jeans about $90 or less on sale,
also Xelement textile Jackets WITH armor can be had for $50 or so depending if they are
on sale or not, and I have crash tested these jackets as well, and they passed the test LOL

I do, even when it's 110 out. I never ride without leathers, boots,
gloves and a helmet. Rather sweat then bleed.

Very true ! but last accident, I broke shoulder, collarbone, ribs, and collapsed lung,
BUT no bleeding LOL mesh jacket, and kevlar jeans ....

So if this new material lasts longer in a slide than leather, is cooler than leather, and they add armour in the future, it's a win win. Maybe it'll replace leathers in motogp, who knows. As for cost, I've seen guys spend thousands to mod their bikes just so they look cooler to them. Why not clothes for comfort and protection for a couple hundred? I wear a mesh armoured jacket, and military pants with armour in the knee pockets, and a pair of padded klim shorts underneath. I'd trade up for the added protection if they had my size. Any bike leather either looks like a racer wannabe, or a harley rider. No thanks to blackout, or a 300 lb racer.

I have a pair of Exelement leather jeans I got from Leather-Up. You could easily add some velcroed-in armor to the knees and hips and they dress like jeans,

I have had all sorts of gear. For commuting, nothing beats an Aerostich Roadcrafter. They're expensive, but they last forever. Waterproof, tough, zips over your work clothes in seconds. The only thing I have to change when I get to work is my shoes.
