well my chain oil just came in by mail order and I guess I will oil it tomorrow but darn, no rear wheel lift so I guess it is spray and roll or maybe I can soak a rag and rub it over the chain that way I can move the bike just once

Spray and roll, spray and roll... it takes a good 20 minutes and about 30 feet of driveway. Put a paint mark on a link so you know where you started. I have heard the small rollers you place under the rear wheel to roll it in place work alright. Not as good as a rear stand though.

If your rollers are dark and dirty, you're good. If they're shiny, You're too late. it's dry.
Never run your chain dry, and run it on the loose side, rather than too tight. I'm trying the Chain Wax for the first time. It still slings off, regardless of what they say. About 1,000 miles on the new bike, and haven't washed it yet.
In fact, I told the kid cleaning it up for delivery to leave it alone. Quit rubbing on my bike, you're gonna scratch it. Beat it!

If you do get a stand, the Grease Ninja is the bomb.

I'm an oiler (75-90w synthetic). I put the bike up on the stand, oil the chain pretty heavy, then wipe off the excess with a clean low lint (old wash cloth) rag. This cleans the chain at the same time as lubes it. Lube every 400 miles, as the manual states. On my old bike I did this and in 13,000 miles I had to adjust the chain once, slightly.
Just did this today (washed bike first), hit 1605 awesome miles today!

So the deal is I spray and gravity takes care of the rest?
So the deal is I remove the top chain cover.
So the deal is I now have access to spray the top rung.
So the deal is I have both sides dripping not one side up top or at the bottom, the [mirror side] is not lubed.
So the deal is I spray in sections because those horizontal rollers are not getting lubed sitting at that sprocket angle.
Signed,
Turtle grease IS the deal on his is

i clean with bike on rear stnd, grunge brush and denture brush and kerosene(never wd-40). ride to fling out kero. bike back on stand, spin the wheel while the chain and engine are still warm. lightly spray the sprocket with wax. it's like water at first. it seeps in every where. after the solvent evaporates, the wax is left and every time the chaon gets hot, the wax softens to a more liquid state, distributing throughout the chain. you can see it glisten wet the chain is hot. it gets all through the chain as much as anything. flings very little if you don't overdo it. spray less but more often. every 4-500 is good enough.

denture brush on the other side and you hit all 4 sides of the chain. very fast and easy.

slowmo; lube the inside of the chain. Centrifugal force will push it through the chain, lubing the all the parts. If you lube from the outside, any debris on the outside is pushed in, then when you ride, the lube is flying. My regimen is Motul chain cleaner (I like pressurized cleaning) on the inside bottom and grunge brush. Then another light blow with cleaner, and dry with rag. Then lube inside bottom, and clean rag.

yes, it's simple. it's like water when it hits the chain. Spin the wheel by hand for a minute with the chain and engine hot and the stuff will flow into every crack and crevice.
hope the grossout is not getting redundant. just a reminder. don't run your engine and lube at the same time. Might s seem like a great idea but there's a lot of these stories on the web.

Good for an emergency but it looks like tip over or paint scrape hazard.
My thoughts exactly. I don't think I'd trust my $13,000 motorcycle to a $50 folding "jack" unless I had no other option. My ABBA stand takes about 2 minutes to setup and have the bike raised, and anything short of a F5 tornado it's not going to possibly fall or whatever. At home you want to prop your bike up just cut a 2x4,it'll cost about $.50, same shit (no wait...better). OK for a trip to plug a tire, totally inadequate for about any other use.
Save your $50 for an ABBA Superbike Stand with the front lift arm kit (just over $300 US). Guaranteed it'll be one of the best purchases you ever made for a bike.

$50 for that? I'd buy a chanel iron and cut a notch in one end. don't forget how heavy the 14 is. Can you imagine pulling the bike up on that thing? I can't and mine is ~90 lbs lighter than most. Maybe I'm missing how it works.

...your prepared, just in case you have a "chain lube emergency."
LOL i suppose if you are touring. I could see using it if you had one guy to lever the bike up on the sidestand and the other to stick the thing under the spool. Still pretty scary.
