New ZX-14 Owner from Las Vegas
07/13/10 9:05 AM

Hello All,

I've been lurking about after registering a few days ago and finally decided to introduce myself.

I purchased a 2008 ZX-14 a couple of weeks ago and am loving it. It was sitting on the dealer's showroom floor with 0 miles on it. Coming from a 1985 Honda Magna V65, I thought it would take time for me to adjust. Surprisingly, the ZX-14 feels very natural and responsive compared to the V65, and I took to it from day one. Needless to say, I'm selling the V65 since I'm not riding her anymore. The V65 was great, but it's time to move on.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can, and maybe at some point offering up my own experiences.

Welcome Steve. Personally, I would rank the V-65 along with the Z-1, Busa, the Honda being in the middle of the evolution. When that bike came out, it was a wheelie bike, a torque monster, and every tuneup I got my hands on, I beat shit out of those just for the sheer power it would put out. I'd almost say the V has a little over the Z, you need no adjusting.

Thanks, Hub.

The V65 does have a lot of power and will rocket your butt down a road very quickly. I really like the looks and sound of the V65 as well. Having never been on a sport bike before, I thought it would be a big adjustment. The only thing that changed was the sitting position, which on the 14 seems pretty comfortable, at least to me. The 14's power, torque, and speed all seemed pretty "normal" to me - if that makes any sense. Heck, I've had the 14 for two weeks and already want more power out of her. I guess I'm a little nuts; well, maybe more than a little.

I just joined today as well & also recently bought an '08. Great bikes, I've been on 2 CBR 1100 XXs & 1 Busa for the past 7 years. It wasn't much of an adjustment other than getting used to the touchy rear brakes. I visit Vegas every couple of years when we have a trade show to attend, do you ride up to the dam often?

Hello, bean07 and ZXinVA.

ZXinVa, no, I don't ride down near the dam; at least, not yet. I have been staying away from the dam, lately. There are just too many tourists, crazy people, etc. at the dam these days. I probably won't ride anywhere near the dam until the new overpass opens up in that area.

Hey ZX-in-va I also had two black/birds, bought 1 new in 03, sold it in 10mnths because I [NOT ON PURPOSE]left work [60kmh zone] and was doing 171kmh when I glanced down at the speedo,I noticed just before lots of people GENERAL MOTORS giving me a bad look,so I sold it.[it did not scare me, I have no self control] still do not!. Bought a KLE500 just for work, went out for a ride with my missus and my mate on his XJR1300, He left me for dead, after the ride my missus said to me YOU! have to get another B/B.so I bought no.2 [04], its now for sale & now have a 09 ZX14, I bought in march this year. Ps. G"DAY stevetwo

Stephen.
