My bike came with an owner-fabbed bar adapter that bolts on where the stock bars attach. It's similar to some of the LSL kits for other bikes, although the LSL for the ZX-14 includes a new top triple. I've often wondered if you could get away with drilling and adding some individual bar clamps.

its possible . and not that difficult to do provided the time and equipment . takes about and hour to set up, drill , then another hour or so to spin up some collars for under the clamp. machine off flat spot underneath and bang... you got yourself a clean, useable bar conversion that wont break the bank or bugger up parts. if you don't want the bars then pull the clamps off and plug the holes with black plastic plugs . would be completely versatile ..

Sounds good. Certainly a lot cheaper than the LSL kit and lighter than the plate I have.

Your bottom plate is very similar to my home-brewed adapter plate. Flip yours over and weld the bar clamps to it and you have mine. spacers hold mine up off the triple.

Now I undersrand what you have. But in order for this to be like yours there would have to be some kind of standoff to keep the plate off the top of the the clamp... and wow.. bet it looks like hell . Lol at least this one hides under the tripple . The collars rest under the clamp I will install this over the weekend and take a few pics

The P. O. had it powdercoated and used chromed allen bolts to attach and on the bar clamps and I added some zinc-plated spacers underneath, so while it's not as nice as the polished alloy LSL setup, it looks OK. You can see it in this pic just in front of the map pocket of the tank bag:

that looks very similar to the original idea I had a few years ago. never pulled the trigger on it. looks good to me . heck.. who needs to spend 539 bucks or so when these ideas work just as good and leaves lots of cash in our pockets to spend in other places on our machines..

oh, btw... the blue is the shizzznick!!! here is my o7

and the 12..

and the wifes 09 in the faster colour...

I had an LSL kit on my old ZZR 1200. If this bike hadn't come with a bar adapter, I would have bought or made one.

If your levers, etc. are not set at the appropriate angle, you can have some fairing contact/conflict, depending on the bend and height of bar you use. I ended up relocating the aftermarket reservoirs to the rear side of the bars, which moves them away from the fairing.

I will see some guys this weekend and ask if there's any interest in your setup.

I know the bar isn't included, but what about the clamps? Are you just selling the adapter plate or does anything elae come with it?
