2011 ZX-10R
09/03/10 11:16 AM

This is the new 2011 ZX-10R in WSB livery. So far, me likeee, it's got a sharp edged look to it that I find appealing. I believe that is the Big Bang motor, I hope it lives up to all the hype and knocks BMW off the pedestal.

BTW, why not sell an LE editon painted like this ala the Honda Repsols instead of the lame LE editions with stick on flames or Monster Energy decals.

Matsuke, surely if I can shoehorn myself onto a ZX-6R at 6'3 , you could ride the new 10R, no?

I think they are going with the mass centralization concept ala Aprilia RSV4. I got a feeling this bike is going to be 600 sized with beaucoup power. Should be interesting to see the liter shootouts in '11. I included some '08 picsw for a comparison, it's easy to see the family resemblance.

The tail is too small. Looks awkward to me. But who cares if it's fast?

That's the way they're all going Rook, small tail = centralized mass = quick handling. The days of big bootie bikes are officially over.

Daughter #2 likes green but the black bike is better.
Daughter #1 likes blue accents on the 2011.

Personally I really like the racing logo scheme. Haven't seen the other colors yet but I'm having a hard time imagining a solid color being a lot better than that green.

Yeah the frame looks very reminicent of the old 6r. Bet this one is really light.

DOya really think the big bikes are over ? nah f way theirs no way us older guys including my wife could tour on such a tiny bike when out on all decent day trips, granted it an others will outmuscel the bigger bikes but I cant see them being very good for most "sport touring" reasons, ive ridden my lads 09GSX600R an yes ther alot quiker in the tight but thats what their for, track and racing an certainly not for some of the shitty roads we have here !

all the info so far is pointing to a serious machine loaded with lots of electronic trickery!

I think it's because Kawi was not smart enough to bump the compression ratio .5 when the new busa came out. They could have done this with little or no cost. This would have given Kawi a tiny hp edge and bragging rights. No points for 2nd place.

A few guys here have changed the head gasket to match the busas compression ratio and got 5 or 6 hp. Not allot but enough to keep Top spot.

A full Akra and a PCIII and the ZX-10R is right there with the BMW with way more low and midrange grunt. Any more than that is too much for the streets. I hope the new 10R stomps all over the Bavarian upstart....go Kawasaki!!!

Would be interesting to try but i doubt there would be a huge dif. THE zx-14 COMPRESSION IS 12 AND THE BUSA IS 12.5 this is not a huge dif. A knowledgable member has told me that it is very easy to increase the compression on the 14 far beyond the busa by going to a thinner head spacer. A very slight change in the compression chamber can make a very significant dif in compression. You could get some insane compression if you want it just by using a thin spacer.

I have also heard that increasing the compression will bump your torque but actually lower your peak hp. I'd do some research before messing with it.

But it is a difference and it has a purpose. It would not have cost Kawi a thing to give us this little tinnnnnny bit more in compression. Suzuki thought it was the way to go ?

We know earlier on this was one of Slows first mods and on physco bike there are others. I have read this subject to death. I just don't what to start. Once I do, I know there is no stopping there.

I would have done this myself but I do not have the knowledge to set up the cams. That kind of work is best left to the pros.
cheap Hp if you know what your doing

haven't heard a peep but you never know, they might surprize us. Personally, I would only want a new 14 if there was some major updates. As things have gone, there isn't much reason to spend all the money to buy something faster in a hyperbike. I always liked the idea of avoiding the race to keep up with technology. There are advantages. IMO, I would rather stay away from the latest and the greatest.

Same here Rook. We are aloud to stay status quo but Kawi on the other hand should be staying a hair up on the others, if for nothing else but to show they still care.

Lets see what flows in this new 10R. Maybe the 14 will pick up some table scraps Lol.

I ran into a BMW in the twisties yesterday (not literally LOL), nice looking bike but didn't get a chance to ride with him. All that high rpm power would have been useless where I was riding, it was all about midrange and I have the Beemer covered there easily with both of my liters.

Kawi had better come up with something better than that 178 Hp "Superbike". My '08 is laying down 176 rear wheel already with killer midrange and sounds like it would spank that thing. Looks like the Big four are going to have to regroup, sip some fermented saki and come up with a reply to BMW. As it is the Beemer has 'em covered with big HP and user friendly active T.C. The engineers in Japan are going to be burning the midnight oil, doesn't help that world wide bike sales have tanked and they can't even clear the old stuff off dealer floors....arghhhh!

2008 10R with Akra Evolution and no PCIII, Ivan's peak dyno numbers are almost identical but even smoother. Look at that fat midrange, Honda strong, stock Beemer doesn't come close and only manages a couple more on top at about 14,000 rpm. I'm not worried.

Correct Rook, bumping the compression ratio increases midrange at the expense of topend as it takes lots of power to compress that induction air at high rpms. Like everything else it's a compromise.

If KHI wanted to send the sales of the zx14 through the roof is find 200 whp from the stock bike. IMOP the only thing the current bike needs is better suspension,a better seat,TC and a reduction of 30lbs from stock. However those things won't make Joe Smuckatelli sale his BUSA and pay 14k for a new zx14 but 200whp at peak will for damn sure. Roman you can thank the squids for killing of the zx14

Don't worry rook that is a race tail it will never make it to production The only thing I could imagine that might make it is the frame and swing arm and those silly little wings they also used on the zx12 damn near 11 years ago.
