The Project
04/22/12 12:47 AM

My latest project is to build some front forks.
First, some of these!

Add some of these!

Finishing with some of these!

Ohlins, Racetech, Kawasaki could not or would not inform me if these components would fit in 2012 zx14r forks, so I am rebuilding some 2007 forks. These when rebuilt will go on the bike, the existing forks will be put into storage.
Has anyone here rebuilt their forks, any problems I may encounter???

Can't wait to hear how it turns out.

2 questions.
The first pic. Is that the stock forks?

Second pic. What are those?

The first picture, some 2007 forks low kms. The second picture are Ohlins compression and rebound kit( these valves replace the crap that Kawasaki (Kayaba) put in the forks to dampen the oil flow) I will take photos of the originals once I take them out. These will make the dampening more plush over large bumps and are totally adjustable via the shim stack. Once installed and adjusted they will bring the dampening up to near Ohlins own shock specs.

Cool! Nice that you don't need to stop riding your bike while you get the stuff all put together, too. Keep us updated. I may go this rout. Looks a lot cheaper than buying Ohlin's or having RaceTech do it for you.
