MR12 Fuel??
04/22/12 6:49 AM

Hey guys has anyone ever played with having two fuel maps and running MR 12? I hear it's like an 8 to 10HP gain? I was thinking of running it possibly when I head to Loring for the top speed run.....

Never. Just make sure you don't let it sit in the bike for extended periods. I believe you can run the tank down to E and then fill it with normal gas. I'd run that through the rest of the system for a while too befor you put the bike away at days end.

I'm running a pump gas map and a MR9 map with my PC5. I've run out of avenues to go down to get the MR9 now so I'm going to have to retune my MR9 map to MR12 or MRX01. Make sure you run all of the sticky fuel out and put in some pump gas to flush the system ASAP after running it. MR12 and MR9 kinda remind me of the foam glue used in sticky mouse traps. Sure makes horsepower though....

Believe it or don't an LSR guy I know runs E-85. His ZX-14 is bored out to 1550, the throttle bodies are bored and set up specifically for the ethanol and he runs a shot of dry nitrous. His best so far is 219 mph.

The PC5 has two available maps built right in unlike the old PC3 where I believe you had to piggyback it to do it. I've just got a toggle switch loaded into the dash and flip back and forth between the maps. I also have a toggle switch to switch back and forth between the horn and the air shifter mounted right beside it. Push both forward for track action. That's how I remember it. Old fart syndrome. Sorry.

ROFL no, Somefun. MR12 is classified a hazardous material, and flammible, and there is no way it can be shipped except in a truck (with proper licenses and documentation) or a train (same rules).

Of course, same goes for plain old gasoline.

When I drove big trucks hazmat was a big deal.Even Bic lighters had to have it.No tunnels or restricted roads.I only ran it once out of Dallas.Wasn't even allowed a sleepover in a truck stop.I didin't get paid any more,Screw that.Had to have this big book by your seat and had to know what it was.Different stuff couldn't go together.Like TNT and Liquid Oxygen. Most people don't have a clue.

Heh I loaded both flatbeds and van trailers. Some of it was nasty stuff. The driver had to go through the trailer checking everything after it was loaded, which meant climbing over crates and barrels.

Going to pick up 15 gallons for my buddy and I. We are going to head up to tuner for a MR12 map... Guys is it ok to leave the fuel in the tank for a week with no issues or should I get it out of there? Just don't want any issues but don't want to be mixing fuels just before the top speed run.

Pump gasoline has additives which extend tank life. Racing fuels do not.

Everything you will read if you do a google search will pretty much confirm, use the cooked-up fuels as quickly as possible.

The PCV's first 2 inputs are for a map switch. You have to enable 2nd map and once loaded the "map switch" (I wired mine off the NOS trigger to dump 21% more fuel when NOS is activated". It's pretty simple and don't waste your $50 on the Dynojet model... basically any switch will work. Just be extra careful and check that the correct maps are loaded.... You have to really watch this cause a screw up might cost you a motor.

Get the MR12 outta the tank and lines ASAP. Don't know how to put it any gentler. If we race Friday night and Saturday also, we leave it in but no longer than that. I've heard of it destroying fuel pumps and injectors when left longer than that so I don't take any chances. The horror stories I've heard might be scare tactics but who wants to find out for themselves???
