Injector and fuel pump options
06/09/24 5:10 AM

Guys, I am in the process of building my first turbo bike and am looking at fuel system upgrade (also with a view to needing more power in the future). Its a gen1 ZX14 and we are aiming at 250 RWHP with a 2860 turbo, intercooler and

At this stage I am going to use an upgraded internal pump (see below) with a billet fuel rail so I can run a return to the tank and have a proper return type fuel system. Questions as follows:

Injectors

Do I:
1. Keep the stock injectors and use a rising rate FMU to ensure enough fuel volume, or
2. Go a bit bigger on injectors and reduce the boost fuel pressure (maybe even run a 1:1 regulator).

I have been googling the differences with factory injectors but its common to see conflicting information, how important is the later gen1 spray pattern (12 hole vs 10 hole)? How do gen2 injectors compare to gen1?

Schnitz has a chart for injectors but turbo requires a much bigger injector, is this because the chart is based on the factory type stable pressure (non return) fuel system, (not boost referenced)?

Early gen1 injectors are supposed to be 440cc, so they are maxed out at 215hp boosted?

Fuel pump
I was looking at the AEM 340 LPH but its rated to 1000hp which seems like overkill, has anyone fitted a Walbro 255 LPH pump into a ZX14? Google says these will support 500rwhp in a car so thats plenty of overhead for my needs.

Most fuel system upgrade kits

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
