I sent my ECU to Sebastian with high hopes but knowing that sometimes things don't live up to the hype, especially in the motorcycle performance world.

This isn't one of those times....

My hopes were exceeded....by an immeasurable amount. It is a different bike, it pulls so much harder, especially in the mid-range. I won't bore you by saying what everyone else has already said....but what you have read is true....only when you actually experience it, it is even better.

Thanks Cblast for your product and your professionalism during our dealings.

Best,

Troy

Grats! Everyone here raves about Cblast product's performance. Does flashing the ECU affect the warranty? I read in the newbs section that removing the flies probably voids the warranty, but that seemed to be physically altering the bike. I haven't seen anything about flashing the ECU and the warranty.

I can only offer my opinion, and that would be that it probably does void the warranty....of course I'm sure their are others on here that would have a more definite answer....

Does flashing the ECU affect the warranty?

Yes.
Cracked the toolbox getting to the ECU now claim warranty? Would you?
Blow up your bike and it was not related to the flash, but you put that flash in the mix? Would you?
Do you fiddlefuk, fiddlefuckaround with the bike still under warranty with a set of racing cams and claim bent valves? Would you?

So, would you be smart and wait for any warranty you have to bite your lip and WAIT!!!

OR???? Fuckit! Flashit!

You go to the drag races and now claim you want a clutch under warranty? Would you if you were selling product and here come all the mods?

Last time I was at the dealership, they wanted to hook the bike up to the diagnostic computer. Out of curiosity I asked if a flashed ECU would work, and they said no. Covering their ass? No experience with a flashed ECU? I don't know.

In my case the warranty is important. I elected to buy extended coverage. The most I'll probably do to the bike (except maintenance) is put new exhaust on it at some point. They said this would be ok to do, but that the new pipes wouldn't be covered but it wouldn't void the warranty. Traditionally when bikes were carb'd (I know some still are) when putting new pipes on it was common to rejet the bike. I assume that something similar is probably needed today with FI, the fuel mapping may need retuned to avoid running too lean or what not.

Thanks for the input everyone.

The diagnostic computer not only still works fine, the only way for a tech to know that your ecu had been flashed would be for some reason to open up the ecu's parameters and then he would have to know what he is looking for. There is a built in flash counter that can be used to see exactly how many times an ecu has been flashed. But I have seen factory ecu's already showing a 2 count. The factory flashed it twice for some reason. So, yes, technically I think a flash can void a warranty. But the tech has no secret knoledge or computer that shows something we cant see.

Thanks CBlast, I definitely like what I'm reading about your service. I know it's counter intuitive to consider alternatives, but A) if I were to buy an aftermarket exhaust (most likely full system, single sided) would it be necessary to do something equivalent to re-jetting or would the bike just detect, correct, and learn to supply more fuel if needed and B) is there alternative to flashing the ECU to do this? I see people talking about power commander (albeit, not as well spoken of as your service), but at this point not sure what it is/does.

Frankly if I didn't have to spend extra money on a FI "jet kit" I'd be all the more glad.

Hey bud,
A) if you just install a full system and do nothing to compensate, the bike will run just fine. It wi be running a little lean(nothing crazy or hurtful), and it will be a little barky and raw. It would be fine for a few weeks or whatever, but I personally wouldn't ride it forever like that. Though I have see that done.

B) yes, there are options such as a powercommander and a customer tune. Commensurate cost is higher, and with a PC, it adds fuel by telling the ecu you are running lean, then ecu adds fuel see. Time is happening during the lie and the back and forth.

The Air Fuel ratio can be focused on and data from your region can be used to create a flash for your machine that will deliver a solid and clean a/f for your exhaust setup (because we have tested and done the research on the dyno).
Along with getting your a/f sorted for your exhaust we will adress all factory restrictions
-Top speed limiter removed
-Remember your last TC setting (no turning it off every time you ride)
-Cylinder maps unified for each
-Smoothing and adjusting of all maps to work more naturally together (more linear traction control interruption, ie.: no more ball slapping on the tank if you break loose with TC on)

The flash is the purest method of tuning a machine. The numbers in your ecu will be seeking the correct ratios under load and at speed.
Etc., etc...

Thanks Cblast. I don't have any immediate plans. But it's good to know some options in the next couple years. I agree, it sounds like if I were to get new exhaust something would have to be done if that was the case. Not interested in runnnig hot or burning a hole in a piston!

I'm another happy cblast customer i love the way my 2014 is working!!
Before - Base reading was 180hp
After - with Brocks CT and Cblast - 195hp
:)

I am looking to do a land speed event
And i do have a question ?
If i were to use race gas (vp9 or 12)would it make your map installed on the ecu to run Too lean
and cause engine problems?

Yes it would. We need to re-map for MR-12. I am on it. I will work with Nels and we will provide an MR-12 map for low power mode. Then when you want the MR-12, simply run your tank as dry as you can of pump, and fill her up with the MR-12, switch over to your L map, and SHAZAM.

It is comin sir, I will have some final results for you within the week, hopefully. It's been an absolutely crazy season here in the PacNor! It's always time. I need about 6-7 more hours in every day. That'd be perfect! :)
I am not blowing this off, I know there are several members interested, as am I! The power produced thus far has been excellent.

We should have it all done by then as long as no delays come up. I have a really cool private mountain road, hill climb event on the 23rd that Priscilla has been invited to, so I have to be there to keep her out of trouble! I'm hoping to have it done then and ride it that day. The Maryhill events here in WA can be pretty awesome. I'm excited too!
