Kruz, I think you will be fine but I recently considered buying tires from overseas and the ad cautioned you to check customs rules for fees. I don't think there are any for non-ingestable items for personal use unless they are considered contraband items in the US like maybe a spring loaded lock blade knife or something like that.

BobZ, I just called Partzilla and they told me the part is unavailable, no longer in production and they do not have any information on a superseded part or when such a part would be available. I don't know where you are getting your information that the part is available under a different part number.

I could not find lowers for my 08, either. Just ordered a tail fairing from them and it is delayed until May 24 but the lowers are unavailable where you would select for your cart. The LH lower is not even on the list to select.

Did you call them? If not ask for Johnathon at Partzilla to be sure.

Yes, I called them earlier today, did not talk to Jonathan but a lady and she was adamant, part unavailable.

I'm guessing the parts house in Europe has found out the part is also unavailable there and just haven't got back to me yet.

I did find these Chinese knockoffs on eBay, will try that next if the part is not available anywhere else.

Carbon fiber lowers right and left for $224, might try these next, at least it's an upgrade if they fit well.

I would buy a used one and paint or have it painted. The lowers are very difficult to see a little flaw here or there won't matter in the paint.

I used cheap colorite pens to patch the touch down scrapes on my lowers. Did a little sanding and polishing and the results were really quite impressive. In hand, there was a little color splotchiness which I actually accept the blame for because frankly I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to paintwork. Once on the bike... even the right side ont he stand you couldn't even see the differences because it's always in the shadow.

Just my thought.

it's probably hard to find a used lower in decent shape since they are no longer available. I think I heard of someone else with this same problem a couple years ago so the supply of used ones might even be slim pickins.

Well I got a shipping notice today for the lower cowl, so it sounds like something is on it's way to me. We'll see what I get and if it fits.

No shipping updates in several days, maybe they put it on an old fishing vessel and it's still out to sea.

Nope, a farmer driving a tractor got me. He was towing a mowing attachment and had turned the rig sideways in the road just past a high speed, blind left hand corner and came to a dead stop. I came off the corner and he was maybe a 100 feet away and I was doing about 80 mph, I smoked my front brake but realized I was going to hit him, so took the only way out which was the ditch, there was no shoulder unfortunately. The front tire tucked under when I hit the dirt and grass, I couldn't keep it on two wheels. That corner spooks me now, the line of evergreens on the left side approaching that turn effectively block your view of the corner exit. I don't think I could have done anything differently and it could have been much worse. As it was, it scuffed up the right side of the bike and snapped off the right mirror. I suffered a pulled groin muscle on the right side and my right shoulder took a pretty good lick but I feel great now after a month. I was wearing full battle rattle, can't say enough good things about wearing full body armor every time you climb aboard one of these missiles. BTW, Farmer Jones left me in the ditch and left the scene of the accident, a couple guys in trucks pulled over and helped me get the bike out of the ditch and started. Stuff happens.

It could have bee real bad, there was a utility pole just past where I hit the deck, if I had stayed up right I might have nailed it at speed, not good....

Yea, I placed the order on May 10, 17 days ago and no tracking updates or delivery information is available. If they put it on a boat, it could me July before it arrives.

I won't order anything from Europe ever again, wish I'd gone with the carbon fiber lowers, a few more bucks but you get a pair and they are an upgrade over the stockers plus I'd already have them weeks ago.

Extrapolator, I got all the other parts earlier last week from Procaliber, only the lower cowl is coming out of the Netherlands.

I've given up on trying to track it, the number they gave me does not appear to be in DHL's system and I've gotten no responses on my request for a delivery date estimate.

I'm just going to put the new mirror on and ride the 14 as is, it's fine, just scratched up a bit.

If it takes a month to get the lower cowl, so be it. I've learned a lesson here and won't do it again.

I'm kind of pissed off at KHI though for discontinuing a very common crash part on bikes that aren't really all that old.

Yeah, that is surprising ... Most of the parts for RC51's are still available, and the RC51 was only made from 2000 - 2006.
