I ran Pilot Pures on my R1. Very nice tire. Heats up quick, nice and sticky and a good profile. Perfect for dialing in just the right amount of lean. On the downside, you will never see 8000 miles. You would be better off with something like Road 3's for more mileage. Still sticky enough as long as you aren't too crazy.

my Avon is shot out too. im considering connie tires... sport tires are just too soft for the mileage im wanting to get out of them.

the front Avon is still in great shape. no bevelling at all.

How do some of the sport touring tires like Road 3's handle the stupid top speed of the 14? Are they rated for stuff like that? I know car tires have speed ratings but can't recall if MC tires do?

The RP2 and RP3 have no problem doing 186mph or 100+ with a passenger for hours at a time! Not to mention how they handle in the rain and if you have ever used the Michelin 2CT you know how it will handles in the corners!

Original Bridgestone S020 Hypersport last only 2900km and was wear out completely.
Now Michelin Pilot Road 3 and 2500km behind and the tyre is still really good, almost like a new even one track day done.

Here in Australia I am running the Angel ST's on my 2012 ZX14R but they are the special model made for the likes of the ZX14 and Concours.....they have a stronger construction to handle the weight of our machines....get your tyre shop to look at their catalouge as it does display the model for our bikes.....hope that helps Grn14

europe zx14r supplied with bridgestone s20
bridgestone s20

the edge of the thread can be more, if your contact patch is ,for arguments sake an inch wide, although it decreases as you lean, and the leading edge of the contact patch is the first thing to touch the edge of your tire as you lean it right over, then you got a bit more to go, ie the remaining width of the contact patch with the road,

i got 800 miles on my bridgestone, they are worn evenly so far, center aint looking flat, but it is starting to give some wiggle over any tramlines/overbanding in road, i dont think they are going to give great milage, but the grip is very very good and feel is really good, id agree with the dude from finland, about 1800 miles is all ithink i will get fom the bridgestone

We have the bridgestone here in oz but not very good mileage out of them......i loved the grip but after 2500km of pretty straight roads they developed a ridge which you could feel when you ran your hand over them....thats why I have the angel ST's on with the proper model designated for our model bike....

My Metzlers are doing ok with 50+ dyno runs + 2000 miles.... I don't expect to get more than 1-2 seasons out of a tire, it's $100-200 well spend IMHO. Wondering if there are any tires out there (besides slicks), that will keep a 200+HP street machine planted.... Can't wait to see the effects of NOS on street tires.

Got just under 4k miles out of the rear s20 with 1k of that relatively restrained running in. I did 2 longish holiday trips recently of which around 1k miles was motorway and that killed the centre of the tyre, no visible tread left at all though there was still usable meat on the shoulders/edges. I've just gone with a PR2 as they seem to be a popular fit over here and they were 'on offer'. Well pleased with it so far. In addition to the Z speed rating the load rating (73W) is also crucial.

Zach I don't know about the Pilot Roads 3 yet.I never ride in the rain.My roads 2 has 2200 miles and you see mine.Their starting to wear but not bad.Maybe try Pirelli Angel tires.I'd stay hard not soft.Run 42 psi so the tire would stay round.Mind if I look.

These big bikes eat tires, that's for sure, 2000 miles sounds about right, it's a tradeoff, sticky in the corners or long wear, take your pick. Forget about 8000 miles, Rook is the only one who ever got that kind of mileage out of a 14 rear, he must have been getting off and pushing it...lol!

I wear out the edges of my ZX-6R, BT-016 rears in just over 2000 miles.... so it's all just a matter of how agressive you are on the throttle.

I look at tires as the cost of doing business on a sportbike, I'm not going to cut corners there, it's the only thing keeping you off the ground.

Huge Cornering grip here, tires are relatively cheap... crashing ain't! JMHO

You have a point... I won't argue there.

I'll probably have to go with the high mileage compound and just slow down for the tight corners.
I can't afford five rear tires per year. Not till my kids are on there own anyway.

Do me a solid Grn... keep track of how they wear. I'm gonna replace the rear with another 3D and keep the front.
I know... I shouldn't do that but its not showing any bevel.

You guys should probably mention flys in or out. Flys out 14s are a lot harder on the rear tire, thats for sure. Thats one reson I haven't removed the flys from my 2012, I bet you can't keep rear tires on it.

I presently have 2400 miles on my M5's and they are measuring 5/32nd's of tread depth remaining at the center. The condemnation limit is 2/32nd's as noted by the wear bars so I will likely get 3500 miles out of this first tire.
