Hello my name is Efrain I’m new to the zx14. I just got an 08 zx14 has 47k miles on it. I picked it up drove great for the first week. Now when I’m at the light about to start riding off it just acts either like a misfire or a slight hesitation more in 1st and 2nd gear but after that it rides smooth no more misfire. I change the plugs I don’t think it’s the ignition coils because if it was that I believe it would be a misfire all the time and it would also throw an f1 light. But the bike doesn’t throw any codes. Supposedly it was dyno tuned before. But please if anyone can help me. I don’t have the money to take to a shop to tell me something I can possibly do my self

Back/front sprocket changed? Stock is 17/42.
Can't be debris between tone wheels and pickups being it should do it all the time and code. So this intermittent intervention sounds like gear ratio change.

If it is, change all 3 as a set. You don't, you'll accelerate the new sprocket wear, chain will have high/low spots, it just snowballs you do things in the cheap.

My 06 had a coil fail. I rode it all weekend as a 3 cylinder. No codes popped up at all.

Hub, he said he has an 08 14. I believe the stock sprockets on those were 17/41. In 2012 they went to 17/42. I don't think they had the stuttering problem with the 06-11 14's with a sprocket change. That came with the 2012 and up. I have a 2012 and I had the stuttering problem when I went to a 43T rear sprocket and then a 45T. I went back to a 42T sprocket (Vortex aluminum) and have never had the problem again.
Works great.

mokaw, you are correct. I picked up 2012 and up book, not first gen book under it. Well, it still says to see if it's stock, maybe it has a few more/less teeth of the PO's tinkering? Next would be air cleaner. Sprocket and teeth look good. and/or high spot in the chain?

Without riding it, hard to call over the net with this hesitation. Swap a stock ECU?
