No wonder the sales have been rather sluggish.

What happened to Honda??? I used to have an 86 VFR750. Now that was a good looking bike. The new VFR is hideous. The lines don't flow, no sense of style at all..Of course I don't really care for the newer CBR1000's either...

I know it's smoother, and it has "maintenance free" shaft drive, but the performance is about on par with my old ZZR 1200. If this ugly, tiny-bagged, over-styled POS is Honda's idea of being the industry leader, they should resurect the CBR 1100XX, punch it out to a 1400, give it some hard bags and call it good, because this ain't it.

I like the styling but power would be a yawner after riding the 14. I like the shaft drive and dual clutch but 5.0 gal tank. Then there is the price honda wanted. For me the dual clutch with real power a bigger tank at a reasonable price I can see it. What I really want is the 14R with shaft drive with shift assist and ABS.

I was just on it at the NY motorcycle show....I think its a nice looking bike but it doesn't get me reved up. But after owning the ZX14 there is nothing else out there really does it for me. I love my bike and wouldn't trade it for anything. I do like the BMW I think is the K1300 shaft drive with the set up for side bags but I don't want to drop 25HP going that route.

I also had an '86 750 and I rode that thing into the ground..in their day they were great. Unfortunately, Honda has always been more concerned with aesthetics than seat of the pants fun. The first VFRs were great and had style but Honda sat on their hands and never listened to riders suggestions. There is no sound like a V-four. But Honda insists on neutering it for some reason. Now with the present styling and performance screw it.

Would the Connie not be a better comparison to the vfr12? The VFr is kinda stuck between wanting to be more tour and sport. I thought about shaft on the 14 but then it would be more like the VFR. Chain is no doubt better for sport and I'm kinda scared of bmw's maintenance and repair costs and likelihood. VFr needs bigger tank. No brainer. Wonder how it sounds with aftermarket cans... Might be a sweet perch for hours on end.

I traded in an '08 VFR 800 for my ZX 14. The dealer where I bought the VFR gave me a test ride on the new 1200 VFR and it did not grab me, I passed on it. The other local dealer gave a test ride on the ZX 14 and I was hooked before I left the parking lot, what a bike!

I like the concept of the 1200 VFR, I like sport tourers, with the emphasis on sport. I also own an FJR, the VFR is sportier, thus my interest in the VFR, but the ride was disappointing.

I always wanted a VFR750 back in the day, I had it bad for that bike. Best I could afford at the time was an RD125. When I heard they were designing the 1200 a few years back I got excited thinking I might get my chance to re live an old dream. I was sorely disappointed, but at least I am over it.
