Crabby Pig (Cumberland MD) May 11, 2013
01/02/13 1:37 PM

I am hosting a meet and greet with lunch at the Crabby Pig in Cumberland MD on May 11, 2013, lunch at around Noon.

This is a COG event, but like last year when a couple badass ZX14s showed up, any of you who can make it are more than welcome.

For those who don't know, COG (Concours Owners Group) is an international sport touring association centered around the Kawasaki Concours and Concours 14. We let any bike join, because its about the people, not the bike. Most of COG's events in the NE region are Ride To events, where you make your own way to the event location, sign in, do impromptu group rides (varying from a truly fast group which beveled the pegs on my C14 in the fall of 2012, to really easy going casual rides. In the evenings we meet in the parking lot (most COG overnight events we book a whole wing of a motel, so all the bikes are lined up in a long row in front of the rooms) and shoot the breeze, smoke cigars, drink beer and tequila, and generally have a good time. Lots of bike talk too. When it is done, you ride home. Some who live close to each other come in small groups. I have one other COGger in Hagerstown and sometimes we ride together.

I tend to want to set the electronic cruise control, crank up the XM stereo, and cover big miles, so riding alone is often great for me.

At the bigger COG events, like the Spring and Summer and Fall rallys, somethings there is a catered dinner on the last night of the event, those always cost money to register for.

But in general, I joined COG to have a reason to ride to fairly far away places hauling enough clothes and gear and tools and various junk for 4-5 days (and once a year, for 8-12 days) and then meet other sport touring nuts and have fun. And we do all that, and more.
