Interesting test with sb6 tonight
08/24/11 10:21 PM

Didn't go into much detail making adjustments (no laptop) but i did make some changes, and the results were interesting.

You can store 10 "maps" in the sb6. You can make up to 6* advance.

I had map 1 as +1* across the board, map 2 was +2*, so on and so forth up to map 6.. Map 0 was appearantly my map from last year.. I'll explain that later.

The bike made the most power at +1*, and lost .5 hp per subsequent degree advanced.

I want to make some more passes with the software, and make actual adjustments. I think the bike will make more power with timing slightly RETARDED. This is with a thin head gasket (higher compression) and 87 octane pump gas.

My map 0 was obviously my nitrous map from last year. I'm curious to see what it is, but i'm pretty sure it's between 8-12 degrees retarded. Lol. The bike made 130 hp and 60 lb/ft of torque with that map in it.

Thought you guys might like this test. I'll post back when i try retarding the timing.

Keep in mind this is a thin head gasket bike, on 87 octane fuel. 93 octane would probably benefit from advancing the timing.

I'm going to tune it on the 87, and post the results.. Then re-tune it on mrx01 (99 octane) and base timing, then re-tune the timing and post what kind of power was gained with the sb6. That way you know exactly what kind of power was gained.

Hoping to do that this week sometime

Are there any "real world" performance benefits running a SB6 with stock motor? All the bolt on's are done (pipe, PC3, Block off's, velocity stacks, TRE, etc), but really wondering if it will help with performance now and with future upgrades. I have been looking at them hard lately and interested primarily in the launch limiter, shift light and considering upgrading my quick shifter and adding an MPS "complete" auto shifter.

2015 30th Anniversary Edition 14R #250-> Brock's CT Ceramic Coated, Ivan's ECU Flash V2 & Map, Block off plates, HM Strain gauge quickshifter, GPR Damper, Spiegler lines, Muzzy's Sliders, Pazzo levers, Rizoma Next Fluid Tanks, DDM Ultra 5500K HID's Low & Hi, DB Windscreen, Cox Radiator guard, gold titanium bolts... too many to list at this point

An MPS autoshifter will not work if you have an SB6 installed. The signals get crossed and it won't kill the engine.

If you have an SB6, it's best to use IT as your shifter. There is a special MPS autoshifter box that plugs directly into the SB6, so you can still have the autoshifter if you want it.

I have a feeling (although i haven't had the opportunity to play with it) that if you ran 93 octane fuel and mapped the ignition, it would give you SOME HP. I'm not sure how many, maybe 1 or 2, maybe 5?
